2002-03: Played in 16 games, starting all of them passed Wally Charko March 8 for second in career games played by a goalie at BGSU (113) broke a personal seven-game losing streak with a 3-3 tie at WMU (Feb. 21), making 31 saves made a season-high 47 saves Jan. 17 at #7 Ohio State (53 shots faced) previous-high was 44 saves Oct. 11 vs. WMU has stopped 40 or more shots four times this season (Oct. 11 vs. WMU, Nov. 2 at Miami, Dec. 8 at ND, Jan. 17 at OSU) named to Lefty McFadden All-Tournament team named CCHA All-Academic Special Mention  2nd in CCHA in saves per game (33.07) ended his career second all-time at BGSU in career saves (3,286), second in career goals against average (3.11), second in career games played by a goalie (114), and third in career save pct. (.906).
2001-02: Started 30 games moved into third place all-time on BGSU[apos]s career saves list with his 31 saves at #9 Michigan (Jan.25) set career high with 51 saves Oct. 13 against #13 Clarkson matched his career-best 51 saves performance at #3 Denver, setting the Wells Fargo Cup Tournament record, including 26 saves in the first period earned his first shutout of the season Feb. 15 vs. LSSU, stopping 26 shots made 36 saves en route to his second shutout of the year, Feb. 23 vs. #12 NMU made 46 stops March 1 at Notre Dame first all-time at BGSU in career save percentage (.911), second in career goals-against-average (2.88), and third in career saves (2,758), less than 1,000 behind all-time leader Gary Kruzich (3,580).
2000-01: Played in 38 games recorded season-high 41 saves Oct. 20 vs. Michigan stopped a career-best 81 shots in Michigan series (Oct. 20, 22) allowed two or less goals in 20 contests made 30 or more saves in 21 games named CCHA Defensive Player of the Week (Jan. 28-Feb. 3) shutout March 2 vs. Ferris State set school records for most shutouts in a career (5) and most shutouts in a season (3) broke school records for career save percentage (.915) and single-season save percentage (.922)  was second in the CCHA for save percentage (.922).
1999-2000: Played in 29 games  recorded a season-high 43 saves in a 3-2 playoff win at Lake Superior on Mar. 11  twice won three straight games  named CCHA Defensive Player of the Week (Nov. 29) for his shutout at LSSU on Nov. 27  earned CCHA Defensive Player of the Week accolades for stopping 67 of 70 shots in BG[apos]s first round CCHA playoff sweep at Lake Superior (Mar. 10-11)  named CCHA Rookie of the Week after turning aside 57 of 62 shots in a split with sixth-ranked Michigan on Dec. 3-4  recorded his second shutout of the season Jan. 14 versus Ohio Sate with 25 saves.
Pre-College: Competed his last two junior seasons for the Kindersley Klippers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL)  played for coach Wayne Labrie  compiled a 34-20-0 mark in 1998-99 with four shutouts  made 1,790 saves for a .922 save percentage  played in 54 games allowing 151 goals for a 2.77 goals-against average goaltender for the North Division squad in the SJHL All-Star game  recorded a 9-6-3 mark during the 1997-98 campaign with a 3.71 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage  was team MVP in 1999 along with earning the team three-star award and community involvement award.
Personal: Full name--Tyler James Masters  born July 24, 1979, in Regina, Saskatchewan  son of Arliss and Linda Masters  has a younger sister (Kendra - 20)  majored in sport management  maintained a 3.48 grade-point-average through 2003 spring semester  catches left  1997 graduate of John G. Diefenbaker High School in Calgary  also attended Robert Usher Collegiate in Regina  enjoys golf and outdoor activities  first BGSU goalie to wear No. 1 since Bob Petrie in the 1996-97 season.
