November 16, 2009 | Ice Hockey
Bowling Green's leading scorer earned the honor after a weekend that featured a four-point weekend in a two-game series with No. 10 Alaska. He scored the game's opening goal on Friday, Nov. 13 en route to the team's 3-1 win over the Nanooks. The win marked the Falcons' first win of the 2009-10 season.
The following night, Samuels-Thomas posted a three-point evening in a 5-3 loss. After falling behind 3-0 in the first period, Samuels-Thomas again began the Falcon scoring effort with his second goal of the weekend while on the power play in the second minute of the middle frame. He assisted on both of David Solway's scores in the same contest as Bowling Green began a late comeback effort that fell just short.
The three points he posted on Saturday night was his second multiple-point game of the season. Samuels-Thomas has now scored at least one point in five of his last six games. He one of five players with a conference-high five goals scored, has a share of the lead in freshman scoring (1.17 ppg), is tied for third in conference scoring (5-2--7), and fourth in power play goals scored (2). The rookie now leads the Falcons with ten points on a team-leading five goals this season. He also has the second most assists on the team with five.
