Bergeron Welcomes Four More to Next Year’s Freshman Class

Continuing to build the Falcon hockey program, BGSU hockey announces the addition of four student-athletes.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green hockey has announced the signing of four student-athletes to add to this year's signing class, bringing to the total to eight. The Brown and Orange will welcome Dajon Mingo, Adam Berkle, Ted Pletsch and Marcus Perrier to the team after the conclusion of their respective junior hockey careers.

DAJON MINGO
Height: 5-9 | Weight: 170 | Forward | Birthday: May 7, 1990
Des Moines (USHL)
Dajon Mingo (Detroit, Mich.) most recently finished playing the 2010-11 season with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League (USHL). He ended the season leading the team in goals scored (24) and was tied for second in both points (35) and on-ice rating (+7). Nine of his 24 goals were scored on the power play and three short handed, also team highs. He finished the regular season in the top ten of the league in goals scored overall (tenth) and on the power play (seventh).
Prior to his time at Des Moines, Mingo spend the 2009-10 season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) splitting time with the Wenatchee Wild and Kenai River Brown Bears. He played a combined 54 games scoring 21 goals and 31 assists and compiling a plus-19 on-ice rating.
Mingo will reunite with current Buccaneer teammate, defenseman Connor Kucera, who committed to BGSU during the early signing process in November. Though they did not play together, he will be the third Des Moines alum to be a Falcon come the 2011-12 season along with forward Mike Fink. Graduated senior Andrew Krelove also was a member of the Buccaneers in 2006-07.

TED PLETSCH
Height: 6-3 | Weight: 200 | Position: Wing | Birthday: April 18, 1990
Pembroke (CJHL)
Pletsch has also established himself as a go-to player in postseason play. In 46 total games, he has scored 12 times and posted four assists with as many short-handed, playoff goals. He played in the Fred Page Cup round robin tournament in 2010 after wining the CJHL Bogart Cup Championship. Pletsch and the Lumber Kings finished as runners-up that year to the Brockville Braves.
He is the son of Central Collegiate Hockey Association Director of Communications Fred Pletsch, who is serving as interim Commissioner of the league after the departure of Tom Anastos.

ADAM BERKLE
Height: 6-3 | Weight: 193 | Position: Forward | Birthday: August 1, 1990
Youngstown (USHL)
Adam Berkle, a Collegeville, Pa. native, spent the previous two seasons with one of the newest team in the USHL, the Youngstown Phantoms. The forward played 60 games in each of his two seasons with the Phantoms, scoring a combined 28 goals and 27 assists. Last year, he scored 11 goals, 18 assists and 29 points, placing fifth on the team in all three categories. Berkle took an offensive approach to his game taking the second-most shots (153). In two of his last three games, Berkle notched a pair of points scoring three goals and an assist.
In 2009-10 he shared a lead for the team-lead with goals scored (17) and again was fifth on the team in points with 26. He had a pair of power-play and short-handed goals on the year for the Phantoms.
He is the eleventh Youngstown player to commit to a Division-I school for the 2011-12 season and the third to attend a CCHA school.
MARCUS PERRIER
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 225 | Position: Defense | Birthday: August 12, 1991
Sioux Falls (USHL)
The Thunder Bay, Ontario native will add size to the BGSU defensive core with his hefty frame and an aggressive playing style. He has spent the last three seasons playing for the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL. Over his three seasons, he has accumulated over 400 PIM and has a career line of 13 goals, 19 assists and 32 points through 160 games with the Stampede.
Last season, Perrier set highs in all three offensive categories and put up a career-best 77 shots, more that his previous two seasons combined. He doubled his goal count from 2009-10 with eight last season while maintaining a plus-four on-ice rating. Four of his eight goals were scored on the power play and he tallied three game-winners in 2010-11.
Perrier will rejoin current Falcons Max Grover and Marc Rodriguez, whom he played along side of during his first year with the Stampede in 2008-09. He is currently in a race for the coveted Clark Cup, given to the postseason champions of the USHL.
The Falcons now have five players that will be joining the team from the USHL. Berkle, Mingo and Perrier will join signees Connor Kucera and Ryan Carpenter and seven current players that are or were USHL players in their junior career. Ian Ruel (Omaha), Marc Rodriguez (Sioux Falls), Camden Wojtala (Omaha), Max Grover (Sioux Falls), Brett Mohler (Tri-City) and Mike Fink (Des Moines) are the current Falcons that came from the United States Hockey League. Graduating seniors David Solway (Sioux Falls) and Andrew Krelove (Des Moines) also had played in the league, at one time.
