Bruns, Fulk Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week
May 07, 2012 | Baseball, Softball
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Nick Bruns and softball player Hannah Fulk.
Male Athlete of the Week
Nick Bruns, a junior from St. Henry, Ohio, picked up a win in his longest outing of the season, going five innings Sunday to help Bowling Green defeat Eastern Michigan 9-3. Normally the team's closer, Bruns came into Sunday's game in the third inning with two on and nobody out, and proceeded to set EMU down to end the inning. He struck out five batters in his five innings of work to pick up his third victory of the season.
Female Athlete of the Week
Hannah Fulk, a junior from Jeromesville, Ohio, finished off the regular season by hitting .538 in four games, hitting three home runs and breaking two program records. She led off both games of Friday's doubleheader against Miami with homers and hit a three-run bomb against Ball State. Her 13 homers this year are the most in school history. She added two walks on the week for 42 on the year, most in program history.
