Game Notes
The Bowling Green State University baseball team will head to Murray State University for a three-game set with the Thoroughbreds, beginning Friday at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT. The Falcons will enter the weekend with a 2-1 record, their best start since 2007. MSU comes into the series with a 1-3 ledger, with a game still scheduled vs. Central Michigan on Thursday.

Scouting The 'Breds
Murray State University enters the weekend with a 1-3 record on the season, coming off a 19-2 win over Mid-Continent on Tuesday afternoon. Murray State, who is coached by Rob McDonald, was swept at Central Arkansas on opening-weekend. The Thoroughbreds are led by junior Brand Eggenschwiler, who is batting .500 on the young season. As a team, the 'Breds are batting .326 with a team ERA of 7.43.
The Series
Friday afternoon's matchup will be the 15th all-time matchup between Murray State and Bowling Green, with the Falcons holding an all-time series record of 9-5. The last time the two squads met, Murray State took 2-of-3 from the Falcons. In that 2011 series, the Falcons were downed in the first two games, while taking game three in a rain-shortened Sunday contest.
On The Road
Beginning with opening weekend at WKU, the Falcons will spend the first month of the season on the road. With trips to Bowling Green, Ky., Murray Ky., Cookeville, Tenn., Florida (for Spring Break), and Normal, Ill., the Falcons will play 18-of-19 on the road to begin the season. According to Google Maps, the road trips during the first month of the season will cover 4,905 miles, making the Falcons road tested.

As a northern baseball team, the Bowling Green State University baseball team rarely gets outside to practice in the month of February. The lack of “on-field” experience has shown, with the school-record for February wins currently standing at three. With four games left in February, the Falcons have put themselves in position to break that mark.
Good Start
The 2-1 start by the Falcons marks the first time since 2007 that they have won an opening-weekend series. The 2-0 start prior to Sunday's loss marked the first time since 2006 that a Bowling Green State University baseball team had begun at least 2-0.
Player Of The Week
Junior captain T.J. Losby was named MAC East Player of the Week by the Mid-American Conference Office on Tuesday afternoon. Losby, a native of Bryan, Ohio, led the Falcons by batting .333 (4-12) on the weekend. Losby also contributed four RBI and three runs scored, inlcuding a solo homerun in Saturday's contest. The weekly award for Losby is the first of his career.
Clutch
While the Falcons have struggled at times early in the season, they have managed to come through in clutch situations. The Falcon offense is batting .400 with runners in scoring position through one weekend, and .600 with the bases loaded. The Falcons are also producing at an eye-opening .800 clip with a runner on third and less than two outs. The BGSU pitching staff has also come through in key situations, keeping opponents to just a .176 batting average with two outs this season.
