Falcon Hockey Adds Six In Spring Signing Period

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green ice hockey coach Chris Bergeron has announced the signing of six student-athletes during the spring. Bowling Green welcomes forwards Brandon Hawkins, Brett A'ndrea, Kevin Dufour, Tyler Spezia, defenseman Sean Walker and goaltender Chris Nell to the Falcon hockey family. Assistant coaches Ty Eigner and Barry Schutte sat down with BGSUFalcons.com to discuss what each player brings to Bowling Green. All videos can be found below.
Brett D'Andrea | Forward
Brett D'Andrea (Marysville, Mich.) has committed to BGSU, and will join the Orange and Brown in the fall of 2014. The 19-year-old forward has played the last two seasons with the Port Huron Fighting Falcons of the North American Hockey League. This past season he led all Falcons in goals scored with 16, while finishing third on the team with 31 points. In 52 regular season games, he helped lead Port Huron to an overall record 32-24. During the Falcons' most recent playoff run, D'Andrea netted two goals in six postseason games.
Brandon Hawkins | Forward
Height: 5.11 | Weight: 200 lbs
Brandon Hawkins (Macomb, Mich.) has committed to Bowling Green, but won't join the Falcons until the fall of 2014. Hawkins most recently competed for the Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League. Hawkins recorded a team-best 58 points during the regular season, while also leading all Tornado players in goals with 35. After playing in all 60 games, he also finished fifth on the team with 68 penalty minutes. Hawkins helped lead the Tony Curtale coached Tornado squad to 36-22-2 overall record. Hawkins scored one goal in five playoff games in 2012-13.
Sean Walker | Defense
Sean Walker (Keswick, Ontario) has committed to Bowling Green for the fall of 2013. Walker is currently a member of the Newmarket Hurricanes of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He ranked sixth on the team in points this season with 24, while ranking fourth on the team with 61 penalty minutes. Walker recorded 20 assists and four goals for the Hurricanes in 2012-13, helping the team to a 29-19-0-7 record under head coach Justin Peca. In 24 playoff games, Walker has registered four assists.
*In total, five new Falcons will be hitting the ice for Bowling Green next season. Kevin Dufour and Sean Walker will be joined by fall signings Tomas Sholl and Mark Friedman. Matt Pohlkamp, a spring 2012 commit, will also be one of the new faces on campus in 2013-14.
Kevin Dufour | Forward

Height: 5.11 | Weight: 180 lbs
Kevin Dufour (Beauport, Quebec) will join the Falcons in the fall of 2013. Dufour currently plays for the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Junior Hockey League, where he led the team with 26 goals scored in 57 games played this past season. Combined with his 32 assists, he ranked second on the Canadians with 58 points. Dufour helped Carleton Place to a 40-19-3 overall record under head coach Jason Clarke.
Kevin Dufour (Beauport, Quebec) will join the Falcons in the fall of 2013. Chris Nell (Green Bay, Wisc.) has committed to Bowling Green, but won't join the Falcons until the fall of 2014. He spent this past season with the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League, where he appeared in 25 games. Nell compiled a record of 7-11-2, while maintaining a .889 save percentage and a 3.38 goals against average.

Tyler Spezia (Clinton Twp, Mich.) will join the Falcons in the fall of 2014. Spezia currently plays for the Port Huron Fighting Falcons of the North American Hockey League. Spezia has only played in 14 regular season games for Port Huron, but has made an impact with nine goals and 11 assists in that short amount of time. Prior joining Port Huron, he played 23 games for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League. While in Dubuque, Spezia scored four goals and added two assists to go along with 14 penalty minutes.
Tyler Spezia (Clinton Twp, Mich.) will join the Falcons in the fall of 2014. Spezia currently plays for the Port Huron Fighting Falcons of the North American Hockey League. Spezia has only played in 14 regular season games for Port Huron, but has made an impact with nine goals and 11 assists in that short amount of time.
