Statistical Standouts
- The Falcons featured three players who posted multi-point performances in sophomore Alec Rauhauser, junior Stephen Baylis and freshman Cameron Wright.
- A native of Bismarck, N.D., Rauhauser earned his first career multi-goal game when he scored the game-winner on the power play in the final minute of the second period, and doubled-it when he marked a second power play goal with 12 seconds remaining in regulation. Both of Rauhauser's goals came with the 5-on-3 man advantage, helping the Falcons go 3-for-7 on the power play.
- A defenseman, Rauhauser also notched an assist on freshman Max Johnson's third goal of the season early in the third period, which ties his career-high of a three-point night.
- With a power play goal against the Mavericks, Johnson is now on a career-best four-game point streak, while the freshman has excelled against Minnesota State. A native of Lakeville, Minn., Johnson's first career goal for the Falcons also came on the power play against the Mavericks at home (Oct. 21).
- Senior Mitch McLain evened the field just 2:39 into the second period with the Falcons lone even strength goal, making it his fifth goal of the season.
- In addition to Rauhauser, freshman Cameron Wright and junior Stephen Baylis also recorded a multi-point night, both with pairs of assists.
- A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Baylis now extends his point streak to three games, while it was his third multi-point night of the season due to having a hand in each of Rauhauser's goals.
- Freshman Cameron Wright also had a multi-point night, his team-leading fourth of the season, as he was noted on the box score with pair of assists. A native of Newmarket, Ontario, Wright has only been held off the box score in three of Bowling Green's 13 games of the season thus far, and averages a team-leading 1.07 points per game.
- In goal, sophomore Ryan Bednard registered 20 saves, including a game-high of eight in the second period, with just one power play goal against on the night.
- Of the team's 24 shots on goal, Baylis and Rauhauser each tallied four against Minnesota State's Connor LaCouvee.
- On the night, the Falcons outshot Minnesota State by a 24-21 margin, and went 3-for-7 on the power play while holding the Mavericks at 1-for-6.
Coach Bergeron's Take
- "I think it was a quiet first period – which for us, the more quiet it is, better it is. We got into a few penalty problems at the end of the first, but Ryan Bednard looked good and made some good saves. There was not much to the start, but from our perspective, that's good in a tough road environment like that."
- "All three of our power play goals came 5-on-3, but we still have to take advantage on the power play and we did that. I think we won the special teams tonight. I think our penalty kill got much better as the game went on, and we took advantage of the opportunities. We have been in similar situations before, and we handled it better tonight compared to earlier in the season. All-in-all, it was a good win over a good team."
