Seven Falcon Hockey Players Invited to NHL Development Camps

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – A total of seven players from the Bowling Green hockey program were invited to participate in National Hockey League (NHL) Development Camps. Three returners to the program, including one incoming freshman, join three alumni of the program taking the next step towards the professional level.
Selected in the 2016 NHL Draft, junior defenseman Adam Smith joined the Nashville Predators, while as a 2015 draft pick sophomore goaltender Ryan Bednard participated in the Florida Panthers development camp.
Sophomore defenseman Alec Rauhauser was invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs development camp as a free agent. In his debut season, Rauhauser notched 22 points with five goals and 17 assists. Also a free agent, incoming freshman defenseman Justin Wells was invited to the Vegas Golden Knights development camp.
A 2016 graduate of the Bowling Green hockey program, defenseman Sean Walker joined the Los Angeles Kings development camp. Walker signed with the Kings AHL affiliate the Ontario Reign after graduation.
A 2014 NHL Draft selection of the Philadelphia Flyers, 2016-17 Falcon defenseman Mark Friedman participated in the Flyers development camp. Currently signed with the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL, 2016-17 goaltender Chris Nell joined the New York Rangers development camp as well.
The Falcons' seven participants in NHL development camps ranks second-most in the WCHA's total of 35 invitees.
