
Eighth-Inning Rally Lifts BGSU Past Youngstown State

NILES, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team rallied in the eighth inning to earn a 2-1 victory over Youngstown State University on Tuesday (March 10) afternoon. The non-conference ballgame was played at YSU's Eastwood Field in Niles, Ohio.
With one out and a runner at second, Jake Wilson tripled home the tying run in the top of the eighth inning. Two batters later, Adam Furnas singled to right field to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead. YSU scored its lone unearned run in the fourth.
The BGSU pitching staff combined to allow just six hits on the afternoon, while striking out five batters and issuing just one free pass. Rigo Ramos got the start for the Falcons, striking out four over 5.0 innings of one-run ball.
Damon Egnor and David Stopp followed in line, pitching one scoreless inning apiece. Max Carevic went on to record the first two outs of the eighth inning. Nathan Lohmeier then closed the deal, retiring five batters while not allowing a single hit or walk.
Both teams recorded six hits in the contest. The Falcons will play a three-game series at North Alabama over March 13-15. Bowling Green will then return home the following week. BGSU will play its home opener versus Central Michigan on March 17, prior to a MAC-opening series against Ohio (March 20-22).
