Adam Furnas Named MAC Player Of The Week

BGSU Baseball vs. Toledo at Mud Hens' Fifth Third Field (Friday, May 14 at 7 p.m.)
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Adam Furnas, a first baseman on the Bowling Green State University baseball program, has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week. The league office announced the news on Monday (April 26) afternoon. Furnas led BGSU to two-consecutive wins over the weekend at Western Michigan, as the Falcons came back to earn a series split in Kalamazoo.

Furnas racked up multiple hits in all four games, finishing with 11 total hits. The first baseman batted .647 (11-of-17) in the series with eight RBI, five runs and one home run. After registering two hits apiece in the first three games, Furnas went 5-for-6 with five RBI and three runs in Bowling Green's 20-6 Sunday (April 25) win. In the series opener, Furnas crushed a three-run home run to dead centerfield.

One of the most productive players at his position across all of college baseball in 2021, Furnas ranks second in the MAC with a .375 batting average. His .488 on-base percentage ranks fifth within the conference. The native of Bowling Green has played and started in all 30 games for the Orange and Brown this spring.

The Falcons return to Steller Field at Gary Haas Stadium this weekend to take on the first-place Ball State Cardinals. The four-game series begins with a 3:05 p.m. first pitch on Friday, April 30. BGSU takes on rival Toledo at the Mud Hens' Fifth Third Field at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 14. Tickets are on sale now (link at top of this release).
