BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will host their annual Alumni Day this Saturday (April 15) as the Falcons take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles for a 1 p.m. first pitch at Steller Field. The Alumni Day festivities will take place before the game as BGSU recognizes the 25-year anniversary of the 1998 MAC Championship team, the 15-year anniversary of the 2008 MAC Championship team and the 10-year anniversary of the 2013 MAC Championship team.
The 1998 campaign saw the Falcons finish the season 34-21 overall with a 17-10 record within the Mid-American Conference. Bowling Green began the season 4-0 with a three-game sweep over Eastern Kentucky paired with a win against Winthrop. Over the course of the season, the Orange and Brown added wins against Fresno State, Cincinnati and Michigan in non-conference play. BGSU entered the MAC Tournament having won six of their last seven. Hosting the tournament, BGSU beat Miami (OH) in back-to-back games on May 16 to capture the crown and advance to the NCAA Tournament, facing Miami (FL) and Florida International.
In 2008, the Falcons compiled a 32-20 record while going 16-8 in the MAC on their way to a regular season title. During the season, the Falcons went on a streak of winning 10 of 11 games, including a sweep over Northern Illinois to begin 3-0 in conference play. The Orange and Brown formed another streak at the end of the season, closing the regular season on an 11-game win streak, and winners in 14 of their last 16 entering the tournament that stretched into the first game of the MAC Tournament, topping Ohio in the first round.
The 2013 team rallied in the MAC Tournament to capture the MAC title and make the program's most recent appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The tournament run for the Falcons began with a 6-4 victory over Northern Illinois in extra innings. BGSU proceeded to play their next three games against Toledo, taking two of three from the Rockets to advance to play Ball State. Against the Cardinals, the Falcons recorded a shutout for the 7-0 victory and MAC title. The Falcons went on to play in the NCAA Louisville Regional, taking on both Louisville and Oklahoma State.
