May 04, 2023 | Ice Hockey
Season opener set for Oct. 7, home opener on Oct. 8; Bowling Green to play 17 games in Slater Family Arena
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green hockey program has announced its full schedule for the 2023-24 season. The Falcons are slated to play 34 games, with 24 being CCHA contests. Bowling Green will play 17 games in Slater Family Ice Arena, including 12 conference tilts. Unless noted, all home games will begin at 7:07 p.m. ET.
The Falcons open the season with a home-and-home series with Robert Morris, traveling to Pittsburgh on Oct. 7 before the Oct. 8 home opener. The home opener is set for a 5:07 p.m. ET puck drop. The following weekend (Oct. 14-15), BGSU heads to Sioux Falls for a pair of games against the newest CCHA member, Augustana. Because the Vikings are a new member, the games will be counted as non-conference. Bowling Green closes October with another home-and-home series, this time against Western Michigan. The Falcons host the Broncos on Oct. 20, then travel to Kalamazoo on Oct. 21.
On Nov. 3-4, the Falcons continue non-conference competition with a pair of home games against Mercyhurst. Bowling Green welcomes St. Thomas on Nov. 10-11 for the first conference series of the season, then travels to Sault Ste. Marie on Nov. 17-18 for a series against Lake Superior State. BGSU closes the month at home, hosting Northern Michigan on Nov. 24-25.
December features three conference series for the Falcons, starting with a Dec. 1-2 road series against Michigan Tech. On Dec. 8-9, BGSU returns home to host Ferris State. They close the 2023 portion of the schedule on the road, traveling to Bemidji State for a Dec. 14-15 series.
The Falcons begin 2024 with a home-and-home series against Ohio State, traveling to Columbus on Jan. 5 before hosting the Buckeyes on Jan. 6. After a weekend off, Bowling Green hosts Minnesota State on Jan. 19-20, the lone series of the season between the Falcons and Mavericks. BGSU has the following weekend off, then travels to Big Rapids for a Feb. 2-3 series against Ferris State.
The season continues Feb. 9-10, with Bowling Green hosting Lake Superior State. On Feb. 16-17, the Falcons hit the road again, playing two games at St. Thomas. The final regular season home series is set for Feb. 23-24, with BGSU hosting Michigan Tech. The 2023-24 regular season concludes on March 1-2, with the Falcons traveling to Northern Michigan.
The CCHA Mason Cup Quarterfinals are scheduled for March 8-10, with the top four teams hosting the first round. The CCHA Mason Cup Semifinals are set for March 16, with the two highest remaining seeds hosting. The highest remaining seed will host the CCHA Mason Cup Championship, with the official date to be announced later.

Ty's Take
"We have another very good schedule for 2023-24. Our 10-game non-conference schedule is very competitive as we compete against Atlantic Hockey, NCHC, and Big Ten opponents, as well as new CCHA member Augustana. The 24-game CCHA schedule should be as competitive as ever and will provide a lot of excitement inside Slater Family Ice Arena."
