BGSU Sweeps MAC Awards; Ross, Good Earn Weekly Honors

Ross Named MAC Player Of The Week; Good Named MAC Pitcher Of The Week
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the MAC Player and Pitcher of the Week Monday morning (March 11). Bowling Green swept the awards this week with Tyler Ross being named MAC Player of the Week and Nic Good being named MAC Pitcher of the Week. This is the first weekly award for both players and brings BGSU's total to three for the season with DJ Newman being named MAC Pitcher of the Week earlier this year.
Tyler Ross
Ross was a tough out at the plate for BGSU as the Falcons swept Miami (OH) in Oxford for the first time since 1995. In 14 at-bats, Ross posted a batting average of .571. He began the weekend on Friday (March 8), going a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with two doubles, six RBI and three runs scored in Bowling Green's 17-16 win. He followed it up on Saturday (March 9) with another double and a triple while logging three RBI and two runs scored on two hits in the 12-1 win. Ross closed out his weekend stat line on Sunday (March 10) with another RBI and run scored while adding two walks and a stolen base. In total, Ross slashed an impressive .571/.556/.929 in the weekend sweep for the Orange and Brown while leading the team in RBI, doubles and total bases, tying for the team lead in hits and triples and tying for second in runs scored.
Nic Good
Good gave up just one hit over seven innings in his Saturday start against Miami (OH). Good allowed an infield single to the first batter he faced and then proceeded to not allow a hit for the next seven innings. Good tallied seven strikeouts in the start and picked up the victory in the second and three BGSU wins this weekend, giving the Falcons a sweep in Oxford for the first time since 1995. Over the course of his seven innings, Good allowed just one run and walked only two while holding RedHawk batters to a .043 batting average.
UP NEXT
The Falcons will play their first midweek game of the season on Wednesday (March 13), taking on Dayton for a 3 p.m. first pitch. BGSU will then resume MAC play next weekend against Ball State on March 15 for a three-game weekend series. The home opener for Bowling Green is quickly approaching as well, hosting Akron March 22-24.
