Falcons Face Flashes in Three-Game Weekend Series

UP NEXT IN FALCON SOFTBALL
• BGSU at Kent State • April 20 (DH) • 1:00 p.m. • Kent, Ohio •
• BGSU at Kent State • April 21 • 12:00 p.m. • Kent, Ohio •
• The BGSU softball team heads to Northeast Ohio for the next five games, beginning with a three-game Mid-American Conference series this weekend. Head coach Candace Fenton-Bockbrader and the Falcons travel to Kent, Ohio, to meet Kent State University. The teams are scheduled to meet in a Saturday (April 20) doubleheader, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Devine Diamond. Then, the Falcons and Golden Flashes will conclude the series with a Sunday (April 21) single game, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
• All three games at KSU will be streamed, with links to live stats and video available at BGSUFalcons.com.
• Then, the Falcons will step outside of MAC play for a doubleheader at Youngstown State on Wednesday (April 24). Game one will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the YSU Softball Complex.
HAVE A DAY!
• Senior Reagan Williamson homered in both ends of Tuesday's (April 16) doubleheader vs. Central Michigan, for her third and fourth round-trippers of the season. Williamson reached base in six of her seven trips to the plate in the twinbill, raising her 2024 batting average 33 points in the process.
• She went 4-for-5 on the day, with three extra-base hits and two walks. Her homer in the opener was a no-doubter that easily cleared the wall in left field. In game two, she hit a line drive that whizzed over the wall in left-center, along with a double that landed at the base of the fence.
• Williamson had four runs batted in on the afternoon. She went 2-for-3 in the opener, then was 2-for-2 with two walks in the nightcap.
WALK THIS WAY
• Reagan Williamson, as mentioned, walked twice in Tuesday's second game vs. Central Michigan. She now has a total of 68 bases on balls in her Falcon career, and has moved into fifth place on the BGSU career list.
PEYTON'S PLACE
• Williamson was not the only BGSU senior with two hits in each game of the CMU twinbill. Peyton Dolejs went 2-for-4 in both games, including a double in the opener.
• Dolejs currently has a seven-game hitting streak, with at least two hits in five of those seven contests. She is batting .609 (14-of-23) during that streak, and has raised her batting average a whopping 101 points in that time.
OTHER NOTES THAT YOU MIGHT FIND TO BE NOTEWORTHY
• Reagan Williamson picked up her 100th career hit over the weekend at Ball State, and now has 104 hits after her two multi-hit games vs. Central Michigan.
• Williamson now has 13 career homers, and has moved into a tie for 15th place on the BGSU career list.
• Freshman Aaralyn Nogay has five hits over the last three games, raising her batting average 37 points in that time. Nogay is hitting a team-leading .306 this season.
• Madi Young pitched in all three games last weekend at Ball State, leading the Falcons in both innings pitched (10 1/3) and earned-run average (4.06) on the weekend. She had two relief stints of at least four innings vs. the Cardinals.
• Six of BGSU's starters in Tuesday's first game vs. Central Michigan were either freshmen or sophomores. In game two, the Falcons' starters included four frosh, three sophs, two juniors and a senior.
• Dolejs is hitting .367 in MAC games, while Nogay is hitting .349 against conference competition. Dolejs has a .510 slugging percentage in league action, and Nogay has 10 walks and a team-high .491 on-base percentage vs. the MAC so far. Nogay is tied for sixth in the league in walks and ranks seventh in OBP.
• Dolejs leads active Falcons in career hits (136), doubles (25) and triples (eight). Dolejs and Williamson each have 64 career RBI to tie for the team lead, and Williamson paces current team members in walks (68) and homers (13).
THE OPPONENT / THE SERIES
• Kent State has an overall record of 20-18 on the season, and the Golden Flashes are 6-10 in MAC play after splitting a Tuesday twinbill at Buffalo. Four KSU starters are hitting .328 or higher, led by Julia Mazanec. Mazenec is batting .370 with five homers and a team-leading .605 slugging percentage. The Flashes are batting .300 as a team this season to date. In the circle, Macy Irelan and Megan Nuechterlein each have made 28 appearances. Irelan is 7-7 and leads the team in strikeouts (102) and ERA (2.56). Neuchterlein has a 13-8 record along with a 3.26 ERA for first-year head coach Jessica O'Donnell. Last season, the Flashes went 18-31 overall and 13-14 within the conference.
• The Falcons trail Kent State, 79-47-1, in the all-time series, and the Golden Flashes swept a three-game series at Meserve Field last season (April 29-30). Two years ago, in the Falcons' last trip to Devine Diamond, KSU captured two of three games (May 7-8), with the Falcons winning the middle contest by a 6-2 score.

• Then, the Orange and Brown will close the home portion of the schedule with a three-game series vs. Northern Illinois next weekend. The teams are set to play a Friday (April 26) single game, beginning at 3:00 p.m., and a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday (April 27).
• The promotions and events for that NIU series include Senior Day, Alumnae Day and Future Falcon Kids Club Day, and the Falcons' 2004 MAC Tournament championship team will be recognized over the weekend as well.
