
Falcons Historic Run Comes To Close In MAC Tournament

Archer, Takats Homer For Bowling Green
For BGSU, TJ Takats hit a grand slam in the second inning to put the Falcons on the board first, but Ball State's offense tallied five in the fourth to move in front. The lead stretched to 9-4 for the Cardinals before a Nathan Archer solo shot stopped the scoring run for BSU. A run in the ninth for Ball State pushed the score to the 10-5 final. At the conclusion of the tournament, Jack Krause was named All-Tournament by the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rigo Ramos struck out five of the first seven batters he faced, including striking out the side, all swinging, in the second inning.
- In the bottom of the second, Leighton Banjoff was hit by a pitch. A fielder's choice by Sam Seidel kept a runner at first, but walks to Landon Roque and Gavin Ganun loaded them up. TJ Takats delivered a first-pitch grand slam to push the Falcons in front 4-0.
- Ball State's answer came in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs to move in front 5-4.
- The Cardinals added a run in the top of the sixth to stretch the score to 6-4.
- A two-run home run for Ball State in the seventh expanded their lead to 8-4.
- Another run crossed for the Cardinals in the eighth for a 9-4 tally.
- Nathan Archer answered for the Falcons with a solo home run in the bottom half of the eighth to cut into the lead, 9-5.
- Ball State added a run in the ninth for a 10-5 advantage.

- Nathan Archer's home run marked his 18th of the season and 35th of his career. He's now tied for third all-time in single-season home runs and fourth in career home runs.
- Archer's home run also gave him 63 RBI this season, tying him for second all-time, as well as 136 in his career, tying him for 10th.
- As for total bases, the home run moved Archer up to third in a single-season with 147. It pushed his career total to 339, jumping up to seventh all-time.
- TJ Takats belted a grand slam in the second inning, his second grand slam of the season on four home runs.
- Rigo Ramos didn't allow a hit in the third three innings, striking out five batters the first time through the order.
- Sam Seidel reached for the Falcons in the game with a single. This season Seidel reached in 43 of his 45 games played.
- Landon Roque walked twice for Bowling Green, reaching base in 14 of the last 15 games for the Orange and Brown.
