HOW IT HAPPENED
- Western Michigan scored two in the top of the first to jump ahead 2-0.
- Nic Good bounced back in the second inning, striking out the Broncos in order, all swinging. He sent them down in order again in the third and worked out of a jam in both the fourth and fifth innings to maintain the 2-0 tally.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Sam Seidel began the inning with a single through the left side of the infield. Caden Parker drew a two-out walk to bring Nathan Archer to the plate. Archer delivered a triple into the right center gap, scoring both Seidel and Parker to tie the game at 2-2.
- A bases loaded fielder's choice scored one for Western Michigan in the top of the sixth to reclaim the lead 3-2.
- The Falcons quickly answered. Tyler Ross lined a single up the middle on the first pitch of the inning. Leighton Banjoff was hit by a pitch to put two on for a Seidel single through the left side that scored Ross to tie it 3-3.
- Landon Roque stepped in and took the next pitch to left. Banjoff showed off the speed, scoring with a head-first slide to beat the relay from the outfield for a 4-3 lead.
- The rally continued with Gavin Ganun launching the next pitch to deep right center, a three-run blast to extend the Falcons' lead to 7-3.
- Parker drew a walk to bring on a WMU pitching change. Parker stole second and took third on a throwing error before Archer knocked a single into the right center gap, scoring Parker for an 8-3 advantage.
