2013: Served as a student assistant coach after being medically disqualified following the 2012 season.
2012: Played in 31 games while starting 23 for the Falcons...batted .256 with an on-base percentage of .363...had a five RBI game in a March 17 contest at Eastern Kentucky...was hit by a pitch for the winning RBI in a 14 inning game vs. Kent State on April 13.
2011: Appeared in eight games before missing the rest of the season due to injury.
2010: Played in 17 games and started ten…saw times at designated hitter, first base and as a pinch hitter…started his collegiate career with two multi-hit games against Sacred Heart (3/9) and Eastern Kentucky (3/20)..in his first action against Sacred Heart he went 2-for-4 and three RBI…had a career-high four RBI at Cleveland State on a base-clearing double and while reaching base via a Viking error…recorded an RBI in his next two appearances against Akron (5/9) and Kent State (5/14).
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a two-year letterman for the Eagles baseball team under former Clay High school head coach Karl Knierim…contributing on the mound and in the field as a junior, he batted a team-high .434 on the year while driving home 28 runs…from the mound he had a record of 5-1 with a 0.99 ERA, earning him First Team All-Toledo City League and First Team All-Press honors…was also named to the All-Academic team…during his senior year, he again hit for the team’s best batting average (.450) and drove in 15 RBI to earn team MVP honors…played a key role in winning the City League Championship when he was brought in for a seven inning relief effort to solidify a 6-5 win to advance the Eagles to the finals where he threw a perfect inning to close out an 8-6 win to hoist the city championship…was named to the state all-star team chosen to play teams from all 50 states in America in Norman, Okla…named the 2009 City League Player of the Year, First Team All-Ohio, First Team All-District and First Team All-City League teams after his senior season…was recognized by the Toledo Blade newspaper as the first male athlete to earn All-City first team awards for three different sports (baseball, football and basketball) in over 22 years…was a three-sport athlete as a two-year starter for the Oregon Clay football team where he set 11 different school records at quarterback and a four-year starter for the Eagles’ basketball team playing both guard and forward.
PERSONAL: Full name is Andrew Thomas Kuns…is the son of Tom and Brenda Kuns…has one sister, Britany…is majoring in criminal justice.
