2012: Transitioned nicely to the closer role in 2012 after starting for the Falcons in 2011...compiled seven saves, good for second best in school-history for a single season...also picked up three wins in his 26 appearances, which also tied him for second in school-history for a single season...struck out 31 batters, which was the third-highest on the team...held the team's lowest ERA for pitcher's that threw more than 10 innings, compiling an ERA of just 2.53.
2011: Appeared in 17 games during the 2011 season, starting 12 games...had a record of 3-5, with an ERA of 7.35...also compiled two saves during the season...threw 60.0 innings for the Falcons, while striking out 45 and only walking 15...possibly turned in this season's best performance by a Falcon pitcher, an 8-0 Falcon win at Northern Illinois on March 26...in that game Bruns went 9.0 innings, while only allowing three hits...he struck out 12 and only walked two, while only throwing 110 pitches on the day for his first win of the season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a four-year letterwinner at Saint Henry High School…hit .413 as a junior while sporting a 4-4 record with four saves, 2.20 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 52.2 innings pitched…won First Team All-Midwest Athletic Conference and First Team All-State honors in 2008…in 2009, was named the MAC Player of the Year and MAC Pitcher of the Year after a senior season where he had a 8-2 record, 1.22 ERA, 90 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 57.1 innings pitched…also hit .446 from the dish that season en route to winning his second First Team All-MAC award…led his team to a 2009 MAC championship with a 19-6 overall mark and 8-1 conference record...was also named the Legion Player of the Year in his region…captained the Redskins for two seasons (2008, 2009)…also lettered in football.
