2012: Made 24 appearances on the season, starting nine games on the mound...had an ERA of 4.15...led the team in strikeouts with 46...was named the Senior Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year for BGSU...was also awarded the Falcon Medal of Honor, the most prestigious award given to a student-athlete at Bowling Green State University.
2011: Appeared in many of the 51 games, making 42 appearances as a positional player, and 7 as a pitcher...of the 42 appearances in the outfield, Martin started 36 of those games...he hit .244 in 119 plate appearances...his speed produced four doubles and two triples, tying him for second on the team in triples...had an on-base percentage of .326...was a perfect 8/8 in stolen base attempts...appeared in seven games on the hill, getting the starting nod in one contest...had an ERA of 1.93 in 14.0 innings...struck out 12 while walking just six...held opponents to an average of just .200, the lowest on the team with more than one appearance...awarded team Scholar-Athlete award and Mid-American Conference Presidential Award.
2010: Another of BGSU’s versatile players, he played in the field during 23 games and took to the mound 14 times…started seven games in left field and all made before mid-April…went 3-for-24 at the plate…all three hits came in the Eastern Michigan series (4/2-4/3) in his two starts made that weekend…went 2-for-4 with three RBI, a double and a home run…from 4/30 on, he primarily served as a left-handed relief pitching and defensive outfield specialist making 11 showings off the bench…as a pitcher he made two starts and 12 relief appearances…made his first pitching appearance since 2008 against Louisville, throwing 3.1 innings of scoreless baseball and allowing only three hits and striking out one…in his last seven appearances of the season he allowed only two runs over 9.0 innings while maintaining a 2.00 ERA and a 1-0 record in that time…his final appearance of the season included a five-inning relief appearance in the quarterfinal round of the MAC Tournament versus Central Michigan (5/28) after pitching an inning of scoreless relief the day before…that performance led to his second win of the season…had a career-high four strike outs in that game versus the Chippewas…awarded the Mid-American Conference Commissioner’s Award for academic and athletic excellence…awarded team Scholar-Athlete award.
2009: Started 17 of the 37 games he played in…hit .424 through the month of March (14-for-33)…of the 15 games he had hits in, seven were multi-hit efforts… had a career-high five hits and three RBI against Oakland (5/12)…had three consecutive games with a pair of hits against Northern Illinois (3/28), Michigan (3/31) and Central Michigan (4/3)…hit safely in 15 games and had an RBI in eight games, twice recording more than one…had a pair of hits, his only double and home run of the season, in an 8-3 Falcon win at Michigan (3/31)…tied a school record with five hits in a game versus Oakland (5/12)...awarded team Scholar-Athlete award and Mid-American Conference Commissioners Award.
2008: Played in three games, starting one in the field and serving as a relief pitcher in two…went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts at the dish…missed the rest of the season after undergoing surgery.
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-year letterwinner at Oregon Clay High School...named first team All-City League and all-district as a senior...also earned the team Leadership Award and the Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award...had a 5-2 record and a 1.49 ERA on the mound in 42.1 innings of work with 63 strikeouts...batted .424 with four doubles, six triples and two homers...drove in 25 runs...was 5-1 on the mound as a junior with a 0.78 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 45 innings of duty...batted .294 as a junior with 20 hits and 10 RBI...helped lead his team to the City League title his senior season as they were 27-3 and advanced to the regional semifinals for the second straight year...was a National Honor Society member, receiving the Presidential Academic Excellence Award and an Award of Merit...also lettered in football for two seasons at wide receiver.
