BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – After another successful campaign in 2009 that brought back a second consecutive regular season Mid-American Conference championship to Bowling Green, the Falcons celebrated their successes on January 30 during the team's annual Awards Banquet. Highlighting the event were team awards, conference accolades and recognition for outstanding academic achievements accumulated throughout the Falcons' championship 2009 season.

Scholar-Athlete Award: Patrick Martin (So., OF) and Ryan Price
Most Improved Player Award: Kacy Dwornik (So., P) and Dennis Vaughn (Sr., OF)
Comeback Player of the Year: Tyler Elkins (Sr., C)
Mr. Versatility Award: Brian Hangbers
Coaches' Award: Logan Meisler (Sr., INF)
Fireman's Award: Charles Wooten (Sr., P)
Golden Glove Award: T.J. Blanton (Sr., OF)
Mr. Hustle / Aaron Lawniczak Award: Clay Duncan (Jr., INF/OF)
Freshman of the Year / Don Woods Award: Jon Berti (So., OF) and Matt Malewitz (Jr., LHP)
Mr. Falcon / Ken Schoeni Award – Ryan Price
Hitter of the Year: Derek Spencer (Sr., OF) and Ryan Shay
Most Valuable Pitcher: Brennan Smith (Jr., RHP)
Most Valuable Player: Derek Spencer and Ryan Shay
In addition to the team recognizing the 2009 Falcons' achievements amongst themselves, coaches Danny Schmitz, Rick Blanc and Spencer Schmitz honored its student-athletes for their academic achievements last season.

Also presented were conference and national awards that a total of seven different players and the team's own skipper had collected over the course of the season. Head coach Danny Schmitz was named the MAC Coach of the Year at the same time starting pitcher Brennan Smith was named MAC Pitcher of the Year. The 2009 squad had six players named to the All-MAC team including four first teamers (Shay, Malewitz, Meisler and Smith) and two-second teamers (Spencer and Elkins). Both Shay and Smith had also been named to the 2009 All-Mideast Region Team.
The Falcons will leave 2009 behind and prepare for the 2010 season, which starts in only two weeks with their first matchup on Feb. 19 at the University of Louisville.
