Falcons Beat Eastern Kentucky 8-4 To Take Series

The Bowling Green State University baseball team defeated the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky University by a score of 8-4 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Falcons win the series against the Colonels, and improve to 7-12.
Freshman Andrew Lacinak got the start for the Falcons on the hill, and shut the Colonels down for the first three innings. The Colonels would get on the board with two outs in the fourth inning, getting two runs across home plate. The Falcons would respond quickly, with one run in the top of the fifth, and two more in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead.
Freshman Jason Link was the winning pitcher on the day, moving his season record to 2-0. The Falcons would increase their lead for Link, courtesy of a two-run home run in the seventh by Jeremy Shay. The home run was Shay's first of the season.
The Colonels would get to within 5-4 with two runs in the home half of the seventh, but the Falcons would hang on for the victory, scoring three more in the ninth for an 8-4 win. Logan Walker, Andrew Kubuski, and Brian Bien knocked in RBIs for the Falcons in the three-run ninth.
Nick Bruns shut the door on the Colonels, getting his second save of the season. Bruns went two innings in the game, only allowing one hit and striking out three.
The Falcons will play a home game on Wednesday against the Shawnee State Bears, before traveling to Kalamazoo, Mich. next weekend to open MAC play against the Western Michigan Broncos.
