Spring Trip Continues With Four Games This Week

The Bowling Green State University baseball team will continue their spring break trip this week, traveling to the Port Charlotte, Fla. area for four games. The Falcons will look to heat up with the weather, as they are currently on a six-game losing streak. Following the spring trip, the Falcons will return to Bowling Green for their home opener vs. Malone on Wednesday, March 13 at 3 p.m.

Scouting The Eagles
The Eagles defeated University of Michigan on Monday night to improve to 9-3 on the year. They are coming off having won 3-of-4 over the weekend against visiting Manhatten. FGCU is coached by Dave Tollet who is in his 11th season at the helm of the Eagles. Tollet is the only head coach in division-1 program history at FGCU. The Eagles compete in the Atlantic Sun.
Six Eagles have started all 11 games to date for head coach Dave Tollet, led by Brooks Beisner. Beisner is batting .521 (25-48) as of Monday, with five doubles and four home runs. He has knocked in 16 RBI and scored nine runs himself. As a team, FGCU bats .301 with a team ERA of just 2.13.
The Eagles' signature wins thus far in 2013 came in a weekend sweep at University of Florida, taking all three from the #13-ranked Gators.
The Falcons and Eagles have met just one time prior to Wednesday's contest, that game coming back in 2008. The 5-2 win for the Falcons was also played on March 6.

The Hoyas, of the Big East, will play three games this week before Thursday's matchup with the Falcons. Pete Wilk is in his 14th season as the head coach at Georgetown. GU will play Valporaiso on Monday (*won 4-3, but statistics were not available at release), before squaring off against fellow MAC foe, Toledo, on Tuesday.
Four players have started all seven games thus far for the Hoyas. Georgetown brings a team batting average of .259 into this week's games, with a team ERA of 3.34. Danny Poplawski, a senior outfielder, leads the team with a .393 average.
Last season, the Falcons defeated Georgetown 4-3 in Winter Haven, Fla. during the spring trip. BGSU holds a 2-1 record over the Hoyas in the all-time series.

West Virginia enters a Tuesday matchup with Eastern Kentucky with an overall record of 4-6. The Mountaineers, competing in the Big Twelve for the first season in 2013, are coached by Randy Mazey. Mazey is in his first season as the head coach in Morgantown.
Just two players have started all 10 games for WVU, with Jacob Rice leading the way. He is batting .474 (18-38) with five runs and eight RBI. The junior outfielder leads WVU offensively, as they bring a team batting average of .304 into this week's games. The Mountaineers have a team ERA of 4.78.
The last meeting between the Falcons and Mountaineers came in 2010, with BGSU dropping a 10-7 game at WVU. All-time, the Orange and Brown hold a 2-2 record against West Virginia.

In his sixth season at NDSU, Tod Brown will oppose his mentor Danny Schmitz for the second time in his career. Brown spent time in the Bowling Green dugout as Schmitz's pitching coach from 2000-2007 before accepting the head coaching position at North Dakota State.
The Falcons are 1-0 all-time vs. the Summit League foe, beating the Bison during the spring trip in 2011.
