Bowling Green Hosts Findlay Tuesday At Steller Field
March 28, 2016 | Baseball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team is set to host the University of Findlay on Tuesday, March 29, at Warren E. Steller Field. The game is scheduled for a 3:05 p.m. first pitch. The ballgame is Bowling Green's fourth home game of the 2016 season.
"We are excited to get back to Steller Field after playing four games on the road last week," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "We need to get back to playing Falcon baseball. This is a very big week for our program."
The Falcons are coming off a 1-3 week. On Tuesday (March 22), Bowling Green traveled to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and knocked off Central Michigan by a score of 4-0 in a non-conference matchup. The Orange and Brown then opened up play within the Mid-American Conference over the weekend at Eastern Michigan. However, the Falcons were swept, losing 5-4 Friday, 4-0 Saturday, and 8-4 Sunday.
The Falcons did not put enough early offense on the board across the three games at Eastern Michigan. Bowling Green scored six of its eight runs in the ninth inning. In Friday's game, the Falcons entered the ninth inning down four runs. BGSU tallied three runs in the ninth, but left the tying run on second base. In Sunday's game, the Falcons trailed Eastern Michigan 8-1 entering the ninth, and went on to score three runs.
Bowling Green will enter Tuesday's game with an 8-16 record, including a 0-3 mark in conference play. After improving to 7-6 on the season with a win over Savannah State on March 12, the Orange and Brown have lost 10 of 11 games.
Findlay – a Division II school – plays its baseball as a part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The Oilers will head to Steller Field on Tuesday with an 8-9 record. Findlay is 1-3 in GLIAC competition, having lost three of four games over the weekend to Northwood to open up conference play.
Over the weekend, Bowling Green will continue play within the Mid-American Conference by hosting the University of Toledo. All three games will be played at Steller Field. Friday's (April 1) game is slated for a 3:05 p.m. start time, while the games on Saturday (April 2) and Sunday (April 3) will begin at 1:05 p.m.
