BGSU Posts 14 Hits In Loss To Youngstown State
April 10, 2018 | Baseball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team registered 14 hits on Tuesday (April 10) afternoon at Steller Field, but Youngstown State University walked away with a 9-6 victory.
Bowling Green drops to 9-22 on the campaign with the loss, while Youngstown State improves to 10-19 with the victory.
"The bottom line is that we didn't take advantage of our opportunities offensively, and we need to be more aggressive on the mound," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "There were some positives. I thought the guys that came off the bench were ready to go and performed well. We'll need to get a few strong practices in before facing Western Michigan this weekend."
Bowling Green led by a 2-1 margin after three innings, but the Penguins scored the next six runs of the ballgame before the Falcons pulled within three runs at 7-4 with a two-run seventh. YSU tacked on two more runs in the eighth, before the Falcons concluded the game's scoring with a pair of runs in the ninth.
BGSU hits the road this weekend for Kalamazoo. The Falcons are set for a three-game conference series with Western Michigan, beginning with a 3 p.m. first pitch on Friday, April 13.
