April 06, 2018 | Ice Hockey
ST. PAUL, Minn. – After recording a 39 point season in the 2017-18 campaign, Bowling Green hockey's sophomore defenseman Alec Rauhauser has been named to AHCA/CCM Hockey Men's Division I All-American Second Team honors.
Rauhauser is one of 16 players who have earned 19 All-American honors in Bowling Green program history, and is the first since the 1994-95 campaign. A native of Bismarck, N.D., Rauhauser registered nine goals and a team-leading 30 assists through his 41 games played for the Falcons in the 2017-18 season as Bowling Green earned a 23-12-6 record.
Named WCHA Defenseman of the Year and to All-WCHA First Team honors, Rauhauser's 39 points marked the most by a single Falcon since the 2008-09 season, while his 0.95 points per game ranked sixth in the nation of all defensemen. A two-time WCHA Defenseman of the Month, Rauhauser also recorded a team-leading nine multi-point games on the year and a team-best plus-21 rating on the ice.
The last Falcons to reach All-American status was forward Brian Holzinger and defenseman Kelly Perrault in 1994-95, making Rauhauser the first Bowling Green hockey All-American in 23 years. Rauhauser joins other notable alumni of the Falcon hockey program to be named All-Americans including Ken Morrow, George McPhee, Rob Blake and Nelson Emerson.
The CCM Hockey All-American Ice Hockey Teams are sponsored by CCM Hockey and are chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association.
