Falcons Register 10 Hits In Loss At Dayton
May 08, 2018 | Baseball
DAYTON, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team registered 10 hits in a Tuesday (May 8) afternoon game at the University of Dayton, but the Flyers came out on top by a score of 14-5. The ballgame was played at UD's Woerner Field.
The loss drops Bowling Green to 10-33 on the season. Dayton moves to 15-29 with the victory. The two schools split the series season, as the Falcons defeated UD, 5-4, on March 21 at Steller Field.
"We were absolutely dominated today," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "We need to finish out this season the best we can, and in order to do that, we need to play team baseball and stick together. I expect us to play hard this weekend versus Northern Illinois."
After a Randy Righter RBI single opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, Dayton took back control of the game by scoring three runs in the bottom of the frame. UD never trailed the rest of the contest. BGSU scored three in the seventh to pull within a pair of runs, but the Flyers plated four more in the seventh, and finished the game's scoring with a three-spot in the eighth.
