BGSU Athletics Announces Seating Changes For Hockey Season
September 05, 2018 | Ice Hockey
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Bowling Green State University Athletics announced today that the seating map in the Slater Family Ice Arena has been updated for the 2018-19 hockey season.
The most notable change to seating at BGSU Hockey games for the upcoming season is that student general admission has moved from its previous location in section E, to the north stands.
"We're very excited about the move to the north stand seating," said The Bleacher Creatures, BGSU's Hockey spirit squad, in a statement concerning the changes. "We believe it will aid us in creating one of the most raucous and exciting atmospheres in college hockey. Our goal each and every night is to make the Madhouse on Mercer a fun place to play for our Falcons and an intimidating barn for the visitors. We can't wait to get loud and make some noise from our new home."
In response to moving the student section, section E will become general admission seating.
BGSU Director of Athletics Bob Moosbrugger added, "Student support has been a special part of our home ice advantage for generations of Falcon Hockey players. It is important that we continue to work on improving the experience for our students and listen to their feedback and ideas to make the Slater Family Ice Arena the best environment possible. We feel that this is a move that will positively impact our team, students, and community of hockey fans, and we can't wait to drop the puck on the 2018-19 season!"
The Bowling Green hockey program went 23-12-6 in 2017-18, its fourth consecutive 20-win season. The Falcons advanced to the WCHA semifinals for the fifth consecutive season – every season the team has competed in the league.
The Falcons' 18 home games will include three non-conference matchups, one exhibition and 14 Western Collegiate Hockey Association games. For the season, Bowling Green will have a total of 28 WCHA games and seven non-conference matchups.
After opening the season with three non-conference road games, the Falcons will hold its home opener on Sunday, Oct. 14 against non-conference foe Robert Morris. Always a highly anticipated series, the Falcons will host in-state rival Ohio State at the Madhouse on Mercer on Saturday, Oct. 27 in the final non-conference battle of the season.
The Falcons will host Northern Michigan in a standard two-game series Nov. 2-3 in the WCHA opener, prior to its first of two trips to the last frontier when it travels to Anchorage, Alaska to face the Seawolves Nov. 9-10.
The 2018-19 season will include two exhibition games, first coming against the U.S. Under-18 Team on Wednesday, Nov. 21 on the road. The second will be at home as the Falcons host Windsor on Sunday, Dec. 30. Most recently, the Falcons came out victorious in exhibition matchups against both teams in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
To close out the first half of the season, the Falcons will host defending WCHA MacNaughton Cup Champions Minnesota State on Dec. 14-15, and will pick up the season on Jan. 3-4 as it hosts Bemidji State at The Slate.
Rounding out the regular season, the Falcons will host Alabama Huntsville on Friday, March 1, before concluding with Senior Night for the team's seven-player senior class on Saturday, March 2.
In total, there are a minimum of 18 opportunities to watch the team in the Slater Family Ice Arena. Season tickets are available for as low as $190 and provide the greatest value for fans. Full information is available by CLICKING HERE.
