Falcons Tie Nanooks, Alaska Scores During 3v3 Overtime

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University hockey team ended the weekend with a 3-3 tie against Alaska Fairbanks. In the second overtime, Alaska scored a goal, awarding them with the second WCHA point in play. For the Falcons, Stephen Baylis tallies three assists on the night, including one on a Will Cullen power play goal to tie the game in the second period.

- The Falcons will return to Slater Family Ice Arena on March 1 for a two game series against Alabama Huntsville. This series will conclude the regular season for Bowling Green, and will feature George McPhee Bobbleheads on March 1 and Senior Night on March 2. The Friday game (March 1) will begin at 8:07 p.m. with Saturday's (March 2) puck drop set for 7:07 p.m.

Scoring Plays
- Ryker Leer put one into the back of the net just 53 seconds into the game to Alaska an early 1-0 lead. He was assisted by Steven Jandric and Kyle Marino.
- The Falcons quickly answered with a shorthanded goal by Connor Ford with an assist coming from Stephen Baylis at 3:03 into the first period. The goal was the Falcons' third shorthanded goal of the weekend.
- With a 5v3 advantage, the Nanooks took a 2-1 lead with a goal by Tristan Thompson, with assists from Kylar Hope and Jandric. This at 12:55 into the first period.
- Hope and Jandric both assisted on Alaska's third goal of the period as well at 14:12 into the first period. This time being scored by Tyler Cline. The goal came on another UAF power play.
- Just 25 seconds into the second period, Cameron Wright fired a shot past the goalie to decrease the Nanook lead to 3-2. He was assisted by Alec Rauhauser and Baylis (his second assist of the night).
- The Falcons tied it up at three all 15:08 into the second period with a power play goal from Will Cullen. Baylis again tallied an assist on the play, his third of the night, as well as Lukas Craggs.
- At 2:44 into the second overtime, the Nanooks took advantage of a power play to connect on another goal to award them the second WCHA point. The goal was scored by Kylar Hope with assists from Tyler Cline and Colton Leiter.
Other Key Plays
- In the first period, Alex Barber was ejected and issued a five minute game misconduct for checking from behind.
- Connor McDonald and Kylar Hope were both issued 10 minute misconducts in the second period.
- In the third period, Lukas Craggs was ejected from the game, the second Falcon to exit the ice early. He was called for contact to the head and issued a five minute game misconduct. The Falcons would go on to kill the entire five minute penalty, keeping the game tied at three.
Falcon Stat Facts
- For the second consecutive game, and third time this weekend, the Falcons connected on a shorthanded goal, scored by Connor Ford. The Falcons have scored eight shorthanded goals this season, which has them tied for 3rd in the country in total shorthanded goals scored.
- Ford's goal ties him for the team lead at 13 goals on the season with Lukas Craggs. Connor Ford has extended his scoring streak to four straight games.
- Stephen Baylis' three assists give him 13 on the season, as well as four points over the series with Alaska. He now has three multi-point games this season and 13 in his career.
- Rauhauser's assist moves him into second on the team for the season in the category with 17. Only Brandon Kruse has more with 22.

- The Falcons will be back on the road for their next series, traveling to Bemidji, Minn. to take on Bemidji State. Bowling Green and Bemidji met earlier this season at Slater Family Ice Arena, a series that was split between the two squads. The Beavers claimed the first game, but the Falcons came back firing in game two, winning by a score of 3-1.
