Battling The Beavers
Bemidji State is coming off of a split with No. 3 Minnesota State last weekend in Mankato. After falling short by a score of 3-2 on Friday, the Beavers rallied back for a 4-2 win on Saturday to even the weekend series. With the win, Bemidji improved to 14-8-4 on the season with all 14 wins being in WCHA play. Statistically, the Beavers are led by a team approach, having 11 players with double-digit points on the year. Despite that, just two players have double digit goals while six have double digit assists. Senior forward Adam Brady is currently pacing the Beavers, having scored 12 goals to lead the team and being tied for second in assists with 11, accumulating for 23 points, which also tops the stat sheet for the team.Â
The Series At A Glance
This weekend will mark the only regular season series between the Falcons and Beavers this year with both teams coming off of a series against Minnesota State while BGSU was off this past weekend. During the 2018-19 series, the two teams faced twice with the Orange and Brown exiting with a 2-1-1-1 record. The season series concluded with Bowling Green claiming a 3-2 double-overtime win to take five of the weekend's six points. The first meeting came during 2011-12 season, while the first conference matchup was during the 2013-14 season with the Falcons sweeping the weekend, beginning a streak of four straight seasons that the Falcons swept the Beavers, spanning from 2013-2017.
Last Time Out
The Falcons went up against No.3 Minnesota State at Slater Family Ice Arena the last time they hit the ice, falling in both games of the series. In the Friday game, Bowling Green was paced by freshman Adam Conquest who scored his first two collegiate goals in the game in what ended as a 6-3 final. As for Saturday, The Falcons jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the back of two power play goals, but the Mavericks fought back to tie the game late in the third period. From there, Minnesota State took the overtime win with a 3-2 final.Â
