Falcons Set To Begin 2020-21 Season
After a long absence, the Bowling Green State University Falcons will have their long-awaited return to the ice at Slater Family Ice Arena. The 2019-20 season came to a screeching halt for the Falcons and they enter the 2020-21 season with a sense of unfinished business. Their first matchup on the docket will be Adrian, a fresh opponent that the Falcons have yet to face in the program's history. The series will be home-and-home with the second leg scheduled in Adrian on Dec. 5. In total, the Falcons will suit up for 10 non-conference games before conference play begins when the calendar flips on Jan. 1.
Yo Adrian, We Did It!
We made it to hockey season! While this will be the Falcons' first game since March 7, creating more than an eight-month layoff, Adrian has been able to knock the rust off. This will serve as the Bulldogs' third game of the season, having played Trine twice. They also had an exhibition against the USA Hockey U-18 team and have won all three contests. The trio of victories for Adrian have come from a balanced attack that has produced 16 goals while allowing just seven. In the two games that counted towards the schedule against Trine, Adrian won by a combined score of 11-4. A year ago, the Bulldogs posted a 21-5-3 record while going 15-5-3 in conference play in the NCHA. When their 2019-20 season was cut short, they had been prepping for the first round of the Division III NCAA Tournament.
The Game At A Glance
The Falcons and Bulldogs will square off for the first time in program history, playing a home-and-home series. Bowling Green is playing host to the first game on Nov. 13 with the series transitioning to Adrian on Dec. 5 for the second game. Over the course of the series the power play could become a focal point. Last year, the Falcons were one of the best teams in the nation on the power play, but so far this season the Bulldogs have yet to allow a power play goal, stopping all eight power play opportunities for Trine during their two-game series.
Experience Returns For Falcons
The Falcons will return one of the most experienced rosters in the country for the 2020-21 season. Brandon Kruse is second among returns for career points with 108, trailing just Quinnipiac's Odeen Tufto with 121. Not far behind Kruse is Max Johnson, who is fourth with 98, and Connor Ford, who rounds out the list at 10 with 86 points. Cameron Wright is tied with Johnson for the lead in goals scored returning for the Orange and Brown, tied for sixth in the nation with 38 career goals with Ford just behind with 37. Johnson is also tied for the most power-play goals among returners across the country with 22, but once again Ford is right there as well with 21. Kruse is also tied for the most experienced player in the country with the most games played among returners at 120. Ford and Sam Craggs are tied for fourth on the list with 117 games.

Mad Max Taking It To 100
After having two players hit the century mark for career points last season, the Falcons have another player eyeing the milestone. With 98 career points, Max Johnson needs just two points to break through and become the 74th player in the program history to total 100 career points. If Johnson can hit the mark, it will be the first time that Bowling Green has had players reach the milestone in back-to-back seasons since Jonathan Matsumoto and Derek Whitmore did so in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons, respectively.
