Barber Scores Two Power Play Goals As Falcons Fall On Friday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons hockey team (7-5-3, 5-5-1-0) fell to Ferris State (6-13-0, 4-7-0) by a score of 6-3 on Friday (Dec. 10) night. The Falcons were paced by a pair of power play goals from Alex Barber, but the Bulldogs scored three times in the final minute of the second period to take a lead that stood for the rest of the game.

On the second period: "We didn't finish that minute and a half very well. We had a chance to kill off a penalty, which you're going to need, and we didn't do it. And after they tied it, we really kind of let things go.

Scoring Plays
- The Falcons were the first on the board for the night. Sam Craggs made an attempt that was rebounded by Anton Malmstrom for the goal. Craggs received the lone assist on the score.
- Ferris State started the second period scoring with a goal from Marshall Moise. Nick Nardecchia and Stepan Pokorny had the assists.
- The Bulldogs added another goal to take the lead. Brenden Rons had the score with assists from Ben Schultheis and Zach Faremouth.
- Bowling Green answered with a power play score. Alex Barber slipped the puck past the goalie from close range. Taylor Schneider logged the primary assist with Austen Swankler on the secondary.
- BGSU soon claimed the lead with another power play score from Barber. This time Swankler had the first assist with the second going to T.J. Lloyd.
- Ferris State was able to tally a power play goal of their own from Pokorny. Blake Evennou and Drew Cooper had the assists.
- The Bulldogs added another score 29 seconds later, this one from Justin Michaelian with assists from Brenden MacLaren and Sam Skinner.
- Before the end of the second period, Ferris State added to their lead, making it a 5-3 game. Jacob Dirks scored, seeing assists from Skinner and Brendan Michaelian.
- With the goalie pulled late in the third period, Ferris State tallied the final goal of the night. Justin Michaelian had an unassisted empty-netter.

- Alex Barber scored a career-best two power play goals, pushing his total to six this season. Four have come on the power play, the most on the team.
- Barber has scored 31 goals in his BGSU career, the most among active players. 18 have come on the power play, also the most on the team.
- The captain's multi-goal performance was his second of the season, making him the only Falcon with more than one multi-goal effort this year. He is tied with Taylor Schneider with a team-best six multi-point performances this season. Barber leads the team with 17 career multi-point efforts and seven career multi-goal performances.
- Austen Swankler notched a pair of assists, giving him 10 this season. The freshman has four multi-point games this season, with two of those being multi-assist efforts.
- Taylor Schneider tallied an assist, extending his season point total to a team-high 16. The senior has scored 69 career points.
- Anton Malmstrom's goal was his second of the year and third of his collegiate career.
- Sam Craggs recorded his 33rd career assist, giving him 57 points.
