BGSU Baseball Bound For Weekend Battle With No. 5 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team will continue the 2023 season this weekend with their second series of the year. BGSU will head south to Louisville, Ky. taking on the No.5-ranked Louisville Cardinals in a three-game weekend series. The series between the Falcons and Cardinals will be available to stream through the ACC Network Extra, a stream that is part of ESPN. The Falcons are coming off a 1-2 weekend at Tennessee Tech in the opening weekend of the season.

Scouting Louisville
Louisville swept their first series of the season last weekend, taking three from Bucknell. The Cardinals outscored the Bison 23-6 over the three-game series. Louisville then hosted Xavier on Wednesday (Feb. 22) and picked up a win in a high-scoring game with a 12-8 final. With 35 runs over the first four games of the season, the Cardinals have been powered by the long ball. They've knocked seven home runs, including two from junior transfer Ryan McCoy. McCoy enters the weekend batting .500 (8-for-16) with two home runs, seven RBI and seven runs scored from the cleanup spot in the order.
Against Louisville All-Time
The Falcons and Cardinals have met seven times previously with the Falcons seeking their first win in the all-time series. The last meeting between the two teams came in the NCAA Tournament when the Falcons faced the Cardinals on March 31, 2013 as part of the NCAA Louisville Regional. The other meetings were part of three-game series, one to start the 2010 season when Louisville was ranked No. 19 and the first came as the second series in 2009.
