Fallon's Two Blasts Boost Bowling Green To MAC Opener Win
March 10, 2023 | Baseball
ATHENS, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team picked up a 5-4 win over the Ohio Bobcats in the MAC Opener Friday (March 10) behind two Adam Fallon solo blasts to right field with two outs. Fallon's first came in the seventh inning to tie the game while his second was in the ninth with two outs to push the Falcons ahead. The win marks the first MAC Opener victory for the Falcons since 2019.
The Falcons got on the board in the third inning. With runners at the corners, Ryan Johnston brought Tyler Ross in, tying the game at 1-1. Two more crossed for BGSU in the inning with Sam Seidel and Jack Krause scoring on a throwing error to push Bowling Green out in front 3-1. Ohio battled back to move ahead 4-3, but Fallon's home runs made the difference and clinched the 5-4 victory for the Orange and Brown.

QUOTE FROM COACH HALLOCK
"We were able to grind out a good opening series win today. The conditions demanded toughness and our guys showed up in a big way. Defensively we played pretty solid and Nathan Archer's play against the center field wall is one of the best you'll ever see at any level. Offensively we used our speed to score runs early and got solid at bats all day from the bottom of the order. Adam Fallon's home runs made a huge difference in the outcome and our win. He had a great approach and didn't miss either pitch. It was a great boost for him. Gage Schenk battled tough all day without his best stuff and Connar Penrod picked us up in a big way the last three plus innings. Penrod is a force out of the bullpen and our ability to keep it a one run game allowed us to use him in the spot we did. Tomorrow is a new day and we need to play at a higher level. I expect us to do that."
UP NEXT
The Falcons and Bobcats will conclude their series with a doubleheader on Saturday (March 11) following a schedule change. Both games of the doubleheader will be nine innings with the day starting at 1 p.m.
