Newman Blasts Team-Leading Third Home Run
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team continued the weekend series against No. 8 Tennessee on Saturday (March 2). DJ Newman began the game with a solo home run, his third of the season, but that was the extent of the Bowling Green run production for the day. On the mound, Nic Good toed the rubber for four innings, striking out a career-high eight before handing it over to the bullpen. The Volunteers' offense tallied 12 runs in the contest for a 12-1 final in seven innings.

- In the bottom of the third, Tennessee began with a double followed by a two-run home run to move their lead to 4-1.
- Caden Parker reached in the fifth with a walk followed by a single for David Silva, but a double play and strikeout ended the inning.
- An RBI double in the bottom of the fifth for Tennessee extended their lead to 5-1.
- Seidel began the sixth inning with a single to center before stealing second. He moved to third on a ground out, but was unable to score.
- A two-out rally in the sixth extended the Tennessee lead. A solo home run along with a two-RBI single and a two-RBI double, with the final four runs unearned, made it a 10-1 Volunteers' advantage.
- After a pitching change, a wild pitch plated another run for Tennessee before an RBI double brought the score to 12-1 with both runs unearned.
