Series History vs. Oakland
High-Flying Falcons
As a team, the Falcons have been one of the most electric offenses in the nation this season. BGSU is currently averaging 9.8 runs per game, ranked fifth in the country with only Wofford (10.7), Austin Peay (10.6), Tennessee (10.1) and Columbia (10.0) averaging more. Through 37 games for the Orange and Brown this season, Bowling Green has scored 7+ runs in 26 games and 10+ runs in 18 games, including a nation-leading 34 runs against Ball State on March 16 and 26 against Ohio on April 20.
Seidel Safely Reaching
Sam Seidel has put together an impressive streak for the Falcons this season. The sophomore middle infielder has appeared in 30 games for the Orange and Brown and has reached in all 30, the longest on-base streak on the team. Additionally, Seidel reached in the final 11 games of the 2023 season, resulting in an on-base streak of 41 games for Seidel going back to last season. Following Seidel, Jack Krause has an active streak of reaching in 27-straight games, the second-longest streak by a Falcon this year behind only Seidel. Leighton Banjoff and DJ Newman have active streaks of 14 games each as well.
Wright Writing Name In History
As a freshman in the program, catcher Garrett Wright has already etched his name in BGSU baseball lore. So far this season, Wright has been hit by a pitch 16 times, believed to be a program record based off available information. Prior to Wright, TJ Blanton topped the list with 15 HBPs during the 2010 season. Over the last 10 seasons, going back to 2015, Wright is just the third Falcon to reach double-digits in the stat with Tyler Ross (2023) and Kory Brown (2015) both being hit 10 times.
Walking Into The Record Book
The Falcons are closing in on the record book in the walks category in three different ways. As a team, BGSU has drawn 227 walks this season, 26 shy of matching the program record of 253 set in 1978. Of those 227 walks, Leighton Banjoff has drawn a team-high 33. He needs 38 to break into the Top 10 all-time for single season walks, sitting five shy of entering the record book. As for career marks, Jack Krause has 91 walks as a Falcon, needing 94 to enter the Top 10 all-time for career walks drawn, and three to enter the record book. Krause is also trailing Banjoff on the single-season walks list with 30 this year, only eight away from the Top 10.
Archer Making History
Nathan Archer has already entered the BGSU record book four times this season and is closing in on doing it two more times. Archer's 31 career home runs are currently tied for eighth all-time, his nine career triples are tied for ninth all-time and his 14 home runs this season are tied for 10th all-time. This past weekend, he also added his name to the Top 10 all-time for single-season runs scored with 52, tying for 10th. For career stats, Archer has 305 total bases as a Falcon, needing 319 total, 14 more, to break into the top 10 all-time. As for the single-season records, Archer has logged 46 RBI this season, sitting eight shy of reaching the needed 54 RBI to enter the top 10 for the stat.
