Falcons Conclude Non-Conference Schedule With Victory Over Purdue Fort Wayne

Ramos Strikes Out Seven, Goes Six Innings For Orange And Brown
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of the regular season on Wednesday (May 8) with a 5-2 win over the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. The Falcons struck first with a run in the first inning, but the Mastodons tied it up. BGSU reclaimed the lead with a run in the fifth, adding to it with one in the sixth and two in the seventh. BGSU is now 27-17 on the season heading into the final stretch of the regular season with six MAC games remaining.

Bowling Green will resume MAC play this weekend with a trip to Ypsilanti, Mich., facing Eastern Michigan in a three-game series. BGSU and EMU are set for a 3 p.m. start on Friday (May 10) before 1 p.m. first pitches on Saturday and Sunday (May 11-12).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jack Krause logged the first hit of the game with a single through the right side. Landon Roque put a ball in play, reaching on an error to put runners at the corners. A wild pitch was enough for Krause to score, giving BGSU a quick 1-0 lead.
- A bases loaded fielder's choice for Purdue Fort Wayne in the bottom of the third tied the game at 1-1.
- BGSU brought an answer in the top of the fifth. Nathan Archer singled into center. A wild pitch moved Archer up to second with a Caden Parker double to left, scoring him for a 2-1 BGSU lead.
- Sam Seidel began the sixth inning with a single, moving up to second on a wild pitch. Gavin Ganun singled to put runners at the corners. Cooper McKenzie was able to put a ball in play, scoring Seidel for a 3-1 score.
- BGSU added to their lead in the seventh. David Silva began the inning with a double with Parker joining him on the bases via walk. A double steal moved both runners into scoring position, coming around on a ball in play from Roque that resulted in an error for a 5-1 BGSU advantage.
- Purdue Fort Wayne added a run in the ninth for the 5-2 final.

- Rigo Ramos produced his longest start of the season and his longest since 2022, going six innings while striking out at least seven batters for the second time this season.
- Sam Seidel singled in the top of the sixth to push his on-base streak for the Falcons to all 36 games he's played this season. Going back to last season, Seidel's streak is at 47 games.
- Nathan Archer added another run to his season tally, now up to 60. Archer is one behind Corey Loomis for seventh all-time in single-season runs scored.
- Jack Krause drew his 98th career walk as a Falcon, standing two shy of Andy Hudak for ninth all-time. It was also Krause's 37th of the season, tying him for the team lead with Leighton Banjoff and one shy of the top 10 all-time for single-season walks.
- Landon Roque extended his hitting streak, now at six games the second-longest active streak on the team.
- With his fifth inning double, Caden Parker has now logged a hit in five of the last six games and has reached base in all six.
- David Silva posted his second multi-hit game of the season as well as his second double. He added a pair of stolen bases, bringing his season total to three.
