Series History
What To Watch For
Falcons' Offense Rolling Along
The offense for the Falcons has not only been one of the best in the MAC, but one of the best in the nation. So far this season, Bowling Green is averaging 9.8 runs per game, the third-best mark in the nation behind only Austin Peay (11.2) and Wofford (10.5). On top of that, the Falcons are leading the MAC in on-base percentage (.428), ranking 11th in the nation. The percentage has received the boost of Bowling Green's MAC-leading 270 walks that are 15th in the nation and set the program record for walks in a season.
Archer Re-Writing The Record Book
Nathan Archer is putting his name all over the BGSU baseball record book. So far this season, Archer has already cracked the top 10 all-time in three career stats and four single-season stats. Now, he's on the cusp of two more. Entering the weekend, Archer is tied for fourth all-time in single-season home runs (16), tied for seventh in single-season RBI (57), eighth for single-season runs (60) and tied for ninth in single-season bases (132). As for career, he's tied for sixth in home runs (33), tied for sixth in triples (10) and ninth in total bases (324). Now, Archer is closing in on the top 10 all-time for career RBI and single-season at-bats. For RBI, Archer has registered 130 over his BGSU career, needing 136 to crack the top 10. As for at-bats, he's had 207 this season, four shy of the needed 211 to enter the top 10.
BGSU Pitching Eyeing Program Record
As a team, the Falcons' offense already set the program walks drawn record and now the pitching staff is eyeing a record of their own. So far this season, Bowling Green has recorded 336 strikeouts as a staff, being led by Nic Good's 48, one of four pitchers on the roster with 40+ strikeouts this season. Currently, the program record for strikeouts in a season stands at 368, set by the 1999 squad that won 36 games and 22 in MAC play, both tied for program records as well. BGSU needs 32 strikeouts to match and 33 to break the all-time record.
Reaching Milestones In The Win Column
With a record of 27-17, the Falcons have now clinched a winning record this season for the first time since the 2010 campaign. The win totals for BGSU are also the most since 2010. Bowling Green's 19 MAC wins this year match the 2010 mark while the team's 27 overall wins are the most since winning 31 in 2010. If the Falcons can reach 20 MAC wins, it would be the first 20-win MAC season for the program since tying the program record for most MAC wins in a season in 1999 with 22. During the history of the program, the Falcons have recorded 30 wins overall 14 times while recording a 20-win MAC season just twice, winning a program-record 22 in both 1995 and 1999.
