Falcons Drop Series Finale in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn.—The Bowling Green ice hockey team took on St. Thomas in the series finale on Saturday night, dropping the game 6-2. Saturday's loss marks the first regulation loss for the Falcons in ten games.

- The Falcons took an early lead on the power play through Ben Doran, who buried a loose rebound off of a shot in tight from Quinn Emerson.
- With tonight's assist, Quinn Emerson extended his point streak to five games, earning his team leading 14th point of the season.
- The Falcons headed back to the powerplay just three minutes later, but a shorthanded goal by CCHA leader Alex Gaffney leveled the score at one.
- The first half of the second period was held scoreless, Bowling Green's 11 shots on goal and St. Thomas' 14.
- St. Thomas had a powerplay attempt, after Brody Waters took a slashing penalty with 6:04 remaining in the second. After the penalty expired, Waters found himself on a break away, but was denied by St. Thomas goaltender Carsen Musser.
- St. Thomas' Alex Gaffney gave the Tommies the lead with 2:42 remaining in the second, as he took a tight-angled one-timer that beat Jacob Steinman up high for his second of the game.
- The St. Thomas offense then found its feet early in the third period, as they scored three goals in the first six minutes, with goals coming from Hayes Hundley, Jake Braccini, and Lucas Van Vliet.
- Tyler Palmer came in in relief of Jacob Steinman at about the 15-minute mark in the third.
- The Falcons then cut the deficit to three, as Dalton Norris converted on a St. Thomas too many men penalty to make the score 5-2.
- A scrum after the whistle saw the teams go down to four on four for the second time of the night with 7:24 remaining in the third.
- In the ensuing four-on-four, the Falcons pulled their goalie for the extra skater to make it a five-on-four.
- After the conclusion of the two penalties, the Tommies potted an empty netter to make the score 6-2.
- St. Thomas goaltender Carsen Musser made 39 saves in the game, earning the win.
