Falcons Fall To Broncos In Series Opener Friday

Brayden Curlis Logs Second-Straight Three-Hit Game
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team opened the weekend series against Western Michigan on Friday (April 11) in Kalamazoo. Brayden Curlis led the BGSU effort with his second-consecutive three-hit game while also logging an RBI for the Falcons. However, Western Michigan was able to jump out to a 6-0 advantage in the game, leading to the 6-1 final. Bowling Green drops to 22-10 on the season while being 11-5 within the Mid-American Conference. BGSU and WMU will continue the series on Saturday (April 12) with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Western Michigan scored one in the bottom of the first inning and added three more in the second for a 4-0 lead.
- The first Bowling Green hits of the day came in the third with back-to-back singles from Brayden Curlis and Garrett Sloan.
- Western Michigan added another run in the fifth inning, extending their lead to 5-0.
- The Broncos scored in the eighth for a 6-0 score.
- In the top of the ninth, Cooper McKenzie walked before a Carter Mottice single put runners at the corners. Curlis knocked a sacrifice fly to center, scoring McKenzie for a 6-1 score.

- After having his first multi-hit game of the season on Wednesday (April 9) against Youngstown State, Brayden Curlis followed it up with another multi-hit day against the Broncos. Curlis finished with three of BGSU's five hits in the game and drove in the team's lone run.
- Titus Lotz tossed a career-high three innings for the Falcons, coming on in relief. Lotz gave up just one hit and one walk and allowed a single unearned run. He now has three straight appearances without an earned run, spanning 6.1 innings of work.
- Carter Mottice made his second career start after getting the nod on Wednesday as well. He registered a hit in the game, giving him three hits, three runs scored, three RBI and two doubles through his first two collegiate starts.
- Garrett Wright drew a walk in the fifth inning, extending his on-base streak to a team-leading 20 games.
- Cooper McKenzie drew a pair of walks and scored the Falcons' lone run in the game. McKenzie has now reached in four straight games and scored in back-to-back with three runs scored total over the pair of contests.
