February 13, 2026 | Ice Hockey
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Cole Moore and the Bowling Green Falcons (16-7-6, 13-5-3 CCHA) overcame a late barrage of shots to outlast the No. 18 Augustana Vikings (18-10-3, 12-8-3 CCHA) on Friday night, 1-0, inside Midco Arena.
Moore made 28 saves to pick up his third career shutout and first of the season. It was also the Falcons' first shutout victory of the year. Tyler Hotson's power-play goal 4:54 into the game proved to be the difference.
BGSU earned three key points in the CCHA standings, moving to 43 points and into third place, passing the Vikings (42 points). The Falcons trail Michigan Tech (46) by three points for second place and St. Thomas (47) by four points. Minnesota State (40) remains in the mix as the top half of the standings continues to tighten in the race for home ice in the Mason Cup Playoffs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• BGSU opened the scoring 4:54 into the game on a power-play goal by Tyler Hotson. The Falcons capitalized on a man-advantage opportunity after Augustana's Will Svenddal was assessed a cross-checking penalty. Following a faceoff win, Breck McKinley found Jackson Niedermayer, who fed Hotson on the doorstep for the goal.

• Cole Moore recorded his third career shutout between the pipes. It was his first shutout since Nov. 1, 2024, when BGSU defeated Ferris State, 2-0. Moore also blanked Ferris State on Dec. 8, 2023.

• Fourteen of Moore's 28 saves came in the third period.
• Augustana entered the weekend ranked No. 1 in the CCHA in power-play percentage. BGSU held the Vikings to 0-for-2 on the power play.
