Curlis Tallies Second Home Run In Multi-Hit Effort
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Findlay scored two runs in the top of the first to get out to a 2-0 lead.
- In the second inning Pauly Mancino dropped a single into right field for the first BGSU hit of the game, but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.
- Findlay added seven runs in the third, and one in the fifth for a 10-0 score.
- The Falcons got on the board with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. The rally started with singles from Lance Vickers and Zack Horky followed by a Brayden Curlis walk to load the bases. Mancino then drew an RBI walk to push Horky across home.
- In the next at-bat, Griffin Scheiderer singled down the third base line to score Vickers and Curlis. Sam Seidel followed by putting a grounder in play to first base. A fielder's choice throw came home, but resulted in an error to score Mancino. Vinny Salvione then hit a sacrifice fly into center allowing Scheiderer to score, cutting the lead down to 10-5.
- BGSU cut into the Oilers' lead again in the seventh with a two-run homer by Curlis after a Vickers walk, bringing the deficit down to 10-7.
- Findlay added two runs in the top of the ninth to push the score to the eventual 12-7 final.
