Falcons Fall To NIU Saturday As Huskies Force Sunday Rubber Match

Boudreaux, Smith Provide Strong Relief Innings for BGSU
DeKALB, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University baseball team continued the weekend series against the Northern Illinois Huskies Saturday (March 28) after taking the series opener Friday (March 27). The game turned into a battle of the mound with runs scored in only three frames. Northern Illinois tallied two in the third and one in the fourth before adding two in seventh to build up to their 5-0 win. For the Falcons, Carter Mottice tallied BGSU's lone hit of the day while CJ Boudreaux and Micah Smith both turned in solid bullpen outings. The Falcons and Huskies will decide the series on Sunday (March 29) with a 2 p.m. EST, 1 p.m. CT first pitch.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern Illinois scored the first runs of the game with a pair in the third for a 2-0 lead. NIU added one in the fourth for a 3-0 advantage.
- The Falcons worked for their first hit of the game in the top of the seventh. Carter Mottice led off the frame with a single into center.
- The Huskies added two runs in the bottom of the seventh to move the score to 5-0.

- CJ Boudreaux put together a strong outing for the Falcons from the bullpen. Boudreaux tossed a career-high 3.2 innings for BGSU, giving up just one hit and one walk during the appearance.
- Andrew DiLodovico drew a walk for the Falcons, extending his on-base streak to a team-leading eight games. However, his hitting streak came to a close, finishing up at seven games.
- Carter Mottice logged BGSU's hit in the game and reached on an error earlier in the contest as well. Mottice now has a four-game hitting streak with a base knock in each game this week for the Orange and Brown.
