"We are thrilled to add Nathan to our staff," Said Coach Eigner. "He is incredibly intelligent and has tremendous passion for both academics and hockey. His positive impact on our program will be felt on a daily basis."
"I am incredibly excited to be joining Bowling Green State University and the Falcon hockey family," said Phillips. "It is quite an honor to be able to work alongside Ty Eigner, Curtis Carr, and Maco Balkovec who are all genuine people and have great hockey minds. The opportunity to have an impact on the strong culture that Ty has helped build was one that I jumped on immediately."
In 2021-22, the Falcons finished sixth in the reesetablished Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). Bowling Green started the year with a 3-0-2 record, including an overtime win against RPI and regulation win against No. 17 Bemidji State. The Falcons were the last remaining unbeaten team in college hockey that season.
During the 2020-21 season, Phillips helped the Falcons capture yet another 20-win season for the program with a 20-10-1 record, being the seventh consecutive 20-win season, the second longest streak in program history. At the time the season ended, the Falcons concluded the season as the hottest team in the nation, riding a 10-game unbeaten streak as well as a six-game win streak.
