Mother Nature Ends Spring Break Trip in Florida Prematurely

Saturday's game between the Bowling Green Falcons (3-7-1) and the Indiana Hoosiers (4-7-0) has been rained out after the last few days of rain has made fields unplayable. The game will not be rescheduled, ending the Falcons' stay in Florida early.
Bowling Green finished their time at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational with a 3-1-1 mark. Their wins featured victories over Northeastern (13-9), Butler (3-1) and Sacred Heart (16-10). Their lone loss in five games came from a come-from-behind ninth inning win by Rhose Island, 9-8. The Falcons also tied Yale after rained shortened their game to five innings, ending 7-7.
Jon Berti has a stellartournament batting .667 (12-for-18) while playing in just four out of the five games. He crossed the plate nine times and also knocked home four runs while stealing 3-of-4 bases. Derek Spencer belted two homeruns and slugged 1.000 in his four games and was one of three Falcons to have four RBI.
On the hill Kevin Leady has the Falcons' best pitching performance on the short season after his 7.2 inning performance against Butler, allowing only one run to the Bulldogs while striking out a career-high nine batters. Ross Gerdeman earned his first career save and also earned a win after 6.2 innings of relief work with five strikeouts. His tournament ERA was a 2.70, while teammate Patrick Martin also sured up the bullpen with 3.1 innings of scoreless ball.
Bowling Green will now prepare itself for its first home matchup against the University of Findlay, its local friendly rival to the south. The game is set for Tuesday, March 16 at 3 p.m. at Warren Steller Field.
