LAST TIME OUT
Over the last week's worth of games, the Falcons have added to their current nine game winning streak after coming out victorious in their last four contests. In last weekend's series against the Ohio Bobcats, the Falcons swept the series by a combined score of 41-12. The Falcons then defeated the Cleveland State Vikings, 8-2, on Wednesday (4/28) in Avon, Ohio. Over the last four games, the Falcons as a team have hit .371 as a team while the Bowling Green pitching staff held opposing teams hit .260. Reigning MAC East Player of the Week Jon Berti went 7-for-16 with a pair of home runs and eight RBI. Logan Meisler had the team's highest batting average in that time hitting .538 (7-for-13) and seven RBI.
THE SERIES - FALCONS vs. REDHAWKS
The all-time series between the Falcons and RedHawks favors the Red and White, 83-57, dating back to their first meeting in 1953. In their first meeting (also the first season BGSU played in the MAC) Bowling Green beat Miami 17-2. Last season the Falcons won the season series two games to one in one of the highest scoring series in recent BGSU history. Both teams scored in double-digits all three regular-season games. In the MAC tournament, Miami again scored more than ten runs, but the Falcons were held to four in an elimination game that ended the Falcons season.

FALCONS ARE HOT! HOT! HOT!
If you have been living under a rock in the last two and half weeks the Falcons have been on fire since April 11. Jump stated by a 32-10 loss to Ball State on April 10, the Falcons have since won 11 of their last 12 games. The Falcons have rattled off nine straight wins, including two weekend sweeps against MAC opponents and defeating the Cleveland State Vikings (4/28) for the second time this season. This is obviously the longest streak of wins this season for the Falcons and is the longest since 2008.
Longest BGSU winning streaks (since 2000):
2008: 12 games (5/3-21) *second longest all-time*
2010: 9 games (4/11-current)
2005: 8 games (2/26-3/11)
2006: 7 games (3/29-4/8)
2001: 7 games (twice)
2000: 7 games (4/15-22)
2009: 6 games (5/1-10)
2006: 6 games (2/25-3/5)
2005: 6 games (3/25-4/5)
2002: 6 games (twice)
Longest all-time: 13 games (1976)
MOVIN' ON UP IN THE (MAC) EAST SIDE
After the second week of April, Bowling Green sat among the bottom two teams in the Mid-American Conference East Division standings with a 3-6 record. The Falcons (19-18-1, 9-6) have shot out of a cannon and haven't lost a conference game since, compiling back-to-back sweeps against Toledo and Ohio. They now sit a game out of first place in the East and only two games out of first place overall in the MAC, behind Central Michigan and Ball State.
MOVIN' ON UP IN CAREER MAC WINS
Last season, head coach Danny Schmitz earned his 500th overall win in his career. On March 19, he led a team out onto the field for the 1,000th time and brought home a 'W' in an 11-9 win over Eastern Kentucky. After a trio of wins against OU between April 23-25 Schmitz has made the jump to third all-time in wins among MAC coaches. In the series finale win against the Bobcats, he earned his 535th overall win to pass Stan Sanders (534, Toledo) for third place in the category.
FALCON STARTERS SOLID; TURN OPPONENTS TO LIQUID BY THROWING GAS!
Combining Brennan Smith, Michael Frank and Kevin Leady on the weekend has proven to be a dangerous combination for BGSU opponents recently The Falcons have gone 6-0 in their last two weekend series and in large part due to the starting pitching they have received. Leady leads the trio with a 2.93 ERA in the last six games earning a pair of wins over 15.1 IP in two games. Smith has struck out the most hitters (13) over 11.2 innings of work and likewise has a 2-0 record in his last two starts. Frank completed his longest start of his career going seven frames, allowing two runs and striking out a pair in his win against OU on April 24.
GALVIN REACHES HIGH IN HIT STREAK
Mark Galvin is working on rivaling teammate T.J. Blanton's 21-game hitting streak established earlier this season with a run of hits of his own. The senior out of Pickerington, Ohio currently is riding a career-high 15 game hit streak dating back to April 6. Since the hitting streak began at Michigan State, he has batted .433 with 21 of his 26 hits being a single. He also has three doubles and a pair of triples over this time. Of the 15 games he has had at least one hit in, six have been multiple hit games including three two-hit games, two three-hit games and one four-hit game against OU on 4/23. The Falcons have an 11-4 record over this stretch, as well.
BERTI NAMED MAC EAST POW
On April 26 afternoon the Mid-American Conference office announced that Jon Berti was named the MAC East Player of the Week. The Troy, Mich. native set the tone for the series with OU on the first day with a 4-for-6 performance against the Bobcats where he scored three times and knocked in a career-high six runs on the day. Berti hit one of his two home runs in the series in the third inning, a three-run shot to left-center field. He also notched three singles, two of which he took to the opposite side. On the weekend, Berti finished hitting .462 (6-for-13 with five runs scored, eight RBI, a .923 slugging-percentage (a team-high for the weekend) and a .563 on-base percentage. In addition to the his stellar weekend in Athens, Ohio, went a combined 5-for-9 in mid-week, non-conference action against Dayton (4/20) and Western Michigan (4/21). In the Falcons' 6-3 win over the Flyers, Berti scored in his first three plate appearances and tied his career-high for triples in a season (5). In the Falcons' 19-4 beat down against the Broncos Berti again scored in his first three plate appearances and went 3-for-5 on the day.
