THE FALCONS vs. THE TOLEDO ROCKETS
Arch rivals Bowling Green and Toledo have now met over 190 times in this now 90-year old baseball rivalry. Since their first meeting in 1921, the Falcons hold a 113-81-0 mark over the Rockets. Last year, BGSU swept Toledo on the road by a combined score of 32-24. Despite the high scoring affairs, two games were decided by a pair of runs or fewer. The Falcons have won five straight games and three of the last four weekend series against UT.

FALCONS REACHING HOME MARKER
Bowling Green is approaching a new milestone at the very park that has seen much of the program's action and successes. The Falcons have an all-time record of 398-274-7 (.586) and need two more to reach 400 all-time at Warren Steller Field. The Falcons next home action is against Toledo from April 15-17.
MALEWITZ POSTS BEST START OF THE SEASON
After a slow start to the 2011 season, remnants of the 2009 All-MAC selection Matt Malewitz resonated on the hill at Warren Steller Field on Wednesday (4/12) versus Dayton. The redshirt-junior tossed 6.1 innings and entered the seventh inning having allowed only one run before allowing two Flyer runners on the bases that later came around the score. He finished with a line of 6.1 innings of work, six hits and three runs allowed, six strikouts and a walk. His previous start versus Oakland (4/6) was his longest prior outing at 3.1 innings but he was tagged for five runs (two earned). Five of his seven previous appearances he had not lasted more than two innings.
APTHORPE NAMED MAC EAST PITCHER OF THE WEEK

As a part of the successful weekend in Muncie, Ind. sophomore pitcher Cody Apthorpe tossed his best game of his career against the Cardinals on Friday, April 8. The Windham, Ohio native was named MAC East Pitcher of the Week after he threw seven scoreless innings and held the hosts to four hits while striking out a career-high eight hitters. This is his first such award of his career.
FALCONS GET SECOND MAC SERIES WIN
For the second time in three weeks, Bowling Green took two out of three games against a conference opponent. After accomplishing the feat against NIU on the weekend of March 25, BGSU took the opener and finale of their series at Ball State. The team batter .284 that weekend slugged three home runs - two were grand slams - scored 16 runs and outhit the Cardinals 29-24. Falcon pitching kept opponents' bats at a .240 clip and they struck out 30 Cardinals over the weekend as opposed to the 16 Falcons that went down swinging. The pair of wins lifted BGSU into a second place tie with Miami in the Eastern Division of the MAC with a 5-4 record.
