Falcons Swept In Stillwater; Lose Finale 6-2

The big inning killed the Falcons all weekend long, as they dropped a 6-2 decision in the series' finale at Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons would once again get on the board first, with an RBI single from Andrew Kubuski. That lead, for the third straight game, was short-lived, as the Cowboys responded in the home half of the fourth. Ethan McKenney, who cruised through the first three innings without allowing a hit, was charged with the loss.
The Cowboys recorded their first hit of the game on a Gabe Weidenaar home run in the bottom of the fourth, to even the score at 1-1. The Cowboys would break the game open in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs to go ahead 6-1. Randy McCurry was the winning pitcher for the Cowboys, pitching 6.2 innings while only allowing 2 earned runs. Sophomore Ethan McKenney (0-2) was charged with the loss, going 5.1 innings while allowing five earned runs.
The Falcon defense would commit five more errors on Sunday, after committing six in Saturday's game. The Falcons recorded 10 hits in the game—the second time during the series—but, once again would only produce two runs with the 10 hits.
On the day the Falcons scored two runs on 10 hits, while committing five defensive errors. The Cowboys, who beat the Falcons with the big inning all weekend, recorded six runs on seven hits, while only committing two errors.
The Falcons will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon, when they travel to Dayton to take on the Flyers in a 3 pm matchup. Following that game, the Falcons will hit the road for the annual spring break trip (Russ Matt Invitational), in which they will play eight games in eight days.
