Last Week
The Bowling Green State University ice hockey team defeated the University of Michigan Tuesday night, dropping the Wolverines by a score of 5-1. Junior Bryce Williamson led the Orange and Brown with two goals, combining with tallies from Marc Rodriguez, Ryan Carpenter and Adam Berkle for a season best five-goal output. Senior goaltender Andrew Hammond (4-7-3) allowed one goal in the win, turning away 19-of-20 shots. Both teams were scoreless on the power play, with the Falcons and Wolverines each going 0-for-4 on the night.
Two Goals
Bryce Williamson's two tallies in the contest against Michigan set a new career high, and marked the first time this season that a Falcon had scored multiple goals in a game. Bowling Green's last player to record multiple goals in a game was Dan DeSalvo back on March 11, 2012 when he scored a hat trick against Ferris State in a 4-3 OT win.
A Five Spot
Bowling Green's five- goal output on Tuesday marked the first time the Falcons had scored more than three goals in a game this season. The Orange and Brown's last five-goal game came back on March 3, 2012 in a 5-3 win against Northern Michigan in the CCHA Playoffs.
Winning By Four
Bowling Green's 5-1 win over Michigan gave the Falcons a four-goal margin of victory, their most of the season. The Orange and Brown's last four-goal margin of victory came back on Nov. 26, 2010, a 5-1 win over Alabama Huntsville. The last time Bowling Green defeated Michigan by four goals or more was on Oct. 18, 1990, when the Falcons defeated the Wolverines 8-3.
Point Streaks
Dajon Mingo's assist on the third Falcon goal stretches his current point streak to a career-high five games, dating back to the Falcons' 1-4 loss to Notre Dame on Dec. 15. Ryan Carpenter's two-point night also pushed his point streak to five games, tying a personal best. Carpenter's multi-point game is his second of the season, the first coming back on Oct. 12 in a 3-5 loss to Union at the BGSU Ice Arena. In total, the Falcons recorded 15 points in the contest, their most in 2012-13.
Winning
The Falcons' 5-1 victory snapped a six-game losing streak to the Wolverines at Yost Ice Arena. Prior to Tuesday night, Bowling Green's last win in Ann Arbor came back on Nov. 20, 2009, a 4-2 victory. The Falcons are undefeated in their last four games (3-0-1), dating back to a 3-0 win against Niagara at the BGSU Ice Arena (Dec. 29, 2012).
Back-To-Back
The Falcons are currently on a two game winning streak after defeating Michigan, 5-1, on Jan. 8. The win gives Bowling Green regulation wins in back-to-back games for the first time since the CCHA Playoffs last season. Last year (March 3-9), the Falcons won three-straight games, including the final two games against Northern Michigan, and the first tilt against Ferris State in round two. In their last seven games the Falcons are 4-1-2, including a mark of 2-0-1 in their last three, their first three-game unbeaten streak this season.
30 Wins
Bowling Green's win over Michigan marked the 30th career win for head coach Chris Bergeron, giving him a record of 30-62-14 in over two seasons with the Falcons. Bergeron is the sixth coach in the history of the program to secure 30 wins, including Jerry York, Ron Mason, Jack Vivian, Buddy Powers and Scott Paluch.
The Second Intermission
The Falcons have been perfect with the lead in the third period this season, carrying a record of 5-0-1 with a lead at the end of the second period. Conversely, Bowling Green is 0-10-2 when trailing at the second intermission.
Roddy Back-To-Back
Senior Marc Rodriguez was held without a point in his first 18 games of the season before scoring the game winner against Canisius in a 3-2-road victory on Jan. 6. Rodriguez also scored the game-winning goal against Michigan last Tuesday, giving him goals in back-to-back games for the first time since Dec. 29 – 30, 2010. Rodriguez is the first Falcon to score game-winning goals in back-to-back contests since Dan DeSalvo last season in the CCHA Playoffs. DeSalvo scored the game-winning goal in the Falcons' final two wins against Northern Michigan (March 3 – 4, 2012) to advance in the CCHA Playoffs.
Welcome Back Wallace
Junior Andrew Wallace recorded an assist on Rodriguez's goal, snapping his nine-game point drought dating back to his goal against WMU in a 2-2 tie at the BGSU Ice Arena (Nov. 10).
A Chance At Home
The Falcons won their first home game of the season in their last tilt at the BGSU Ice Arena, defeating the Niagara Purple Eagles, 3-0. Bowling Green will have a chance to create a home win streak against Notre Dame, a feat the Falcons haven't accomplished since Nov. 11 – 12, 2011, in a sweep of Canisius. The Falcons are currently 1-7-2 at the BGSU Ice Arena this season.
Hammond's Saves
Senior goaltender Andrew Hammond stopped 19-of-20 shots in the Falcons' 5-1 win over Michigan, giving him his second career win against the Wolverines. Hammond's 19 saves marked the first time since Nov. 3 (6-1 loss to MSU) that he has not recorded at least 20 saves in a game.

Combined with his tally in their last meeting on Dec. 15, Carpenter is currently on a five game point streak against Notre Dame.
