Looking For A Win At Lawson
The Falcons have struggled against Western Michigan at Lawson Ice Arena in recent years, failing to defeat the Broncos on the road in eight-straight games. In that eight-game winless span the Falcons and Broncos did battle to a 1-1 tie, with Ryan Viselli's first career goal accounting for the lone Falcon tally. The last Falcon win at Lawson came on Jan. 19, 2008, a 2-1 win in overtime. Bowling Green is 0-4-1 in Kalamazoo under coach Chris Bergeron. The BGSU Ice Arena is a different story however, as Friday night's win over Western Michigan pushed the Falcons' record to 2-0-2 against the Broncos under coach Bergeron at home.
Conference Wins
Bowling Green now was five conference wins this season, tying their season total from 2011-12. The Falcons have not secured more than five conference wins since 2008-09, when Bowling Green recorded eight wins in the CCHA.
Ranked Opponents
Bowling Green defeated No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 10 Western Michigan this past week, giving the Falcons three wins against ranked opponents this season. The last time Bowling Green defeated two different ranked teams in the same week was last season in the CCHA Playoffs. The Falcons defeated No. 17 Northern Michigan on March 4, before beating No. 2 Ferris State on March 9.
Back-To-Back
The Falcons' back-to-back conference wins over Notre Dame (Tuesday) and Western Michigan (Friday) marked the first time the feat had been accomplished under head coach Chris Bergeron during the regular season. Bergeron has guided the Falcons to back-to-back conference wins in the CCHA Playoffs the past two seasons.
Miami Last Season
The Falcons were 0-1-1 against Miami during the regular season, including a CCHA shootout win in Oxford.
Bowling Green lost to the Miami RedHawks, 4-0, in their first meeting, thanks to four even-strength goals and a 23-save performance from Miami senior goaltender Cody Reichard. The Falcons responded the following night, defeating Miami in a CCHA Shootout. Mike Fink, Dan DeSalvo, Bryce Williamson and Ryan Carpenter all scored for the Falcons, while Andrew Hammond turned away 28-of-32 shots.
The RedHawks also handed Bowling Green a loss in the final game of 2011-12, defeating the Falcons in the third-place game at Joe Louis Arena. Cam Sinclair scored the lone goal for the Falcons.

Waiting For A Win
The Falcons have struggled with Miami in recent years, and are currently on a 14-game (0-13-1) winless streak against the RedHawks. Bowling Green's last win against the RedHawks came back on Jan. 4, 2008, when the Falcons defeated No. 1 Miami, 4-2, at the BGSU Ice Arena. That victory marked the last time the Falcons defeated the No.1 ranked team in the country.
Trouble In Oxford
Bowling Green's winless streak in Oxford currently sits at 15 games (0-14-1), with their last win coming all the way back on March 10, 2001 in the first round of the CCHA Playoffs.
Individual Numbers
Senior goaltender Andrew Hammond has never defeated Miami, compiling a record of 0-6-1 over the past three seasons. In those seven games, Hammond has allowed 25 goals in 210 shots on net. Hammond carries a career goals against average of 3.87, a save percentage of .881.
Juniors Cam Wojtala, Brett Mohler and sophomore Ryan Carpenter share the team lead for career points against Miami on the current roster. Sophomores Mike Sullivan and Connor Kucera scored their first career points against Miami last season, with each collecting an assist in the Falcons' 4-4 tie (Nov. 19, 2011).
Double Figures
The Falcons currently have seven players with at least 10 points this season. Sophomore Ryan Carpenter leads the way with 19 points and 10 goals, while sophomores Dan DeSalvo and Mike Sullivan have a tie for the team lead with 12 assists. Only six Falcons finished last season with double-digit points, led by Carpenter's 30.
Snipers
Ryan Carpenter currently leads the Orange and Brown with 10 goals this season, needing just one goal to tie his season high set last year. Only three Falcons scored 10 goals or more last year, led by Dan DeSalvo's 14, the majority of those (10) scored in the CCHA Playoffs. Carpenter leads the Falcons in shots this season, recording 66 so far in 2012-13. Carpenter also leads the Orange and Brown in shooting percentage, with a success rate of 15.2 percent. DeSalvo led Bowling Green last year with a 16.7 shooting percentage.
Career Years
The defensive pairing of Bobby Shea and Mike Suliivan has been fantastic for the Falcons, as both are having career years. Sullivan is tied for the team lead with 12 assists, surpassing his point total of four set last season. Senior Bobby Shea is also having a career year, as his three goals lead all defensemen. Sullivan and Shea rank first and second on the team in plus/minus, registering a plus-14 and plus-12, respectively. Eight Falcons currently carry a positive on-ice rating, compared to three at the end of 2011-12.
Those Underclassmen
The Falcons currently boast one of the best young core of players in the conference, sophomores or freshmen lead nearly every offensive team category. Of all the major offensive categories (points, goals, assists and plus/minus), only two upperclassmen rank in the top three. Junior Bryce Williamson is second on the team in goals (7), while senior Bobby Shea is second in plus/minus (+12). Dajon Mingo currently ranks sixth in the conference in rookie scoring, with five goals and nine assists for 14 points. Freshman Mark Cooper currently ranks 12th in the conference among rookies with nine points (6G and 3A).
