Freshman Ben Murphy and sophomore Ryan Carpenter scored for the Falcons, while freshman netminder Tommy Burke turned away 17-of-18 shots. The Falcons dominated the special teams, going 2-for-5 on the night with the man advantage, while holding the Spartans to 0-for-3.
The Falcons lost to Michigan State Saturday night, falling to the Spartans by a score of 3-1 at Munn Ice Arena. Junior Bryce Williamson scored the lone goal for the Falcons, while freshman goaltender Tommy Burke (3-4-2) stopped 15-of-18 shots in the loss. The Falcons were held scoreless with the man advantage for the first time in three games, going 0-for-2 on the night. Michigan State converted on one power play chance, going 1-for-5 in the game.

The Ferris State University men's ice hockey could not pull off the weekend sweep on its trip to Michigan's Upper Peninula as the Bulldogs suffered a 3-0 setback to the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Saturday (Feb. 9) night in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) action at the Berry Events Center in Marquette.
Ferris State dropped to 14-12-4 overall along with 12-10-2-1 in CCHA play with the loss while the Wildcats improved their mark to 12-13-4 overall and 6-12-4-1 in league competition. The weekend series marked the last two regular-season meetings between the two teams in the CCHA although both will remain future opponents as conference members in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) beginning next year.
